HI all,

How to make your own map module.

The tools you will need is:

MEd - http://www.biblesupp...s/file/899-med/

Test Graphic Maps - http://www.biblesupp...t-graphic-maps/

e-Sword 9 Converter - http://www.biblesupp...rd-9-converter/

Paint - Found in your accessories -> Start -> Accessories -> Paint

MEd make modules in v7 therefore you will need to convert it over to v9 (using the Converter).

Use the Test Graphic maps module If you can not make one from the program. With the Test map - delete the old information and put your own in replace of it.

When you open an image file in MEd and it can not open, then what you do is copy the image in Paint and save it as Bitmap or Jpeg. You can copy an image from the internet and save it in Paint so you can use it in MEd.

When you insert a new image MEd will automatic save the work you did.

Try it out and enjoy

Thanks

Hello Patch,

Thanks for posting these instructions.

I need to make a map module. Is there anyway to do this besides using MED? I cannot get MED to run on my computer.

Also, what is the best way to reference images that are in a mapx module in a commentary?

Thanks,
Peter

Peter and patchworkid - check out Tooltip Tool v3.39 now posted. See the file included in the distribution with 3.39 titled, "MAPX Files.pdf". It should by in your "...Documents\e-Sword Tooltip" folder.

I messed up the Setup file for v3.39. The file is on your hard drive if you installed it, but it is not where I said it would be. I left out an important backslash, "\". I have corrected the install and re-uploaded it. But you can check your hard drive and find the file here:
c:\users\your-user-name\Documentse-Sword Tooltip\MAPX files.pdf. Of course, replace "your-user-name" with your user name.

Notice, there is no "\" between Documents and e-Sword Tooltip. That was the oops...

Here is an example of how to use T3 to build a MAPX file.

I noticed the following download on BibleSupport.com

http://www.biblesupp...-chart-graphic/

This resource is 628 kb in size, and in black and white. I navigated to Jeff Benner's (AHRC) website, and found the image on which the above resource is based. http://www.ancient-h...g/28_chart.html. The image is a GIF file and not very large in size, about 70kb. So I rebuilt the resource in T3 which is attached. This new resource is now in color and only 73 kb. .

To build this resource, create a folder in your documents\e-Sword tooltip folder titles Images, so you will have documents\e-Sword Tooltip\images. Place the attached GIF file into that folder. Open T3 and load the attach RTF file which shows you the basic required data. Click the Modules menu, select Map and Graphics, and Save Graphics File. Give it a name, I chose "AHRC Alphabet Chart". Put the new file into your e-Sword program folder and restart e-Sword.

You can add more images to this T3 file if you so desire.

HI,

Thanks BH for the instructions. :D

I found out that you can add scripture references and make a whole topic in it like Larkin's book of charts. (That is the type of map modules I will be making )Very Nice thanks again for that.

Well guest what that means instead of having Topics separate from maps, you can have both in the Graphics section.

For ya'l who like v7 - use BeST2 to convert it over to e-Sword 7; and for the Word copy the v7 to the Word.

Thanks again BH for this awesome tool
