I haven't used esword for a while and am back into it once again.  I used to be able to create a topic note say "Old Testament Heros" and then within that topic I could have numerous notes such as "David," "Daniel" etc.  I don't seem to be able to do that anymore.  What do I need to do to accomplish this?  Thank you for your help.

How to add Sub Topic or Study Notes

Open one of the topic or study notes then do the following.

Left clk inside the open notes field to give it the focus, then Press Ctrl and Rt click.

This will open an option box chose "New" enter a new heading for the sub group click Ok and that's it.

The new topic heading will show up in a drop down list at the bottom of the page.

This is the way I add them. Give it a try.

How to add Sub Topic ...

That's where I got confused; I was thinking adding a sub-topic within a topic, as opposed to adding multiple topic notes.

First question, do you have any topic notes at this time? If you do not have any and need help making your first one then that information is included in E-Sword.

The E-Sword help file can be accessed by pressing F1. This will open a PDF file. In the search box type in "topic" . Chapter 11 is  "Topic Notes"  Read thru this chapter and it will show you how to make your first topic note.

That's where I got confused; I was thinking adding a sub-topic within a topic, as opposed to adding multiple topic notes.

Must admit had not thought of doing that. But with that said this is what I have tried.

In the topic file I made a list of the items that I wanted to put additional information under, Jesus Christ, Abraham, David etc.

I then put the info I wanted under each heading. Simple data file.

Jesus Christ

 Lord

   aaaaaaaa

 King

   ccccccccc

 Savior

   ggggggggg

David

 King

 Shepherd

Abraham

 Called of God

 Father of Jews

You can add information under each sub heading as you like.

When you want to search them you use the search icon that you find under  "Journal Notes" . This will open a text box where you enter your search request. If the info you are looking for is found in more than one place you can step down through the listings.

Hope this helps. If it works well for you let us know. Thanks

Makes sense; that is what I was doing, until I read the OP thinking there was an alternative method.
