I upgraded from e-Sword 11.1.0 to version 12.0.1 recently.  Now the Dictionary Topics list takes 5-10 seconds to fill when I change from one Dictionary to another.  For example, if I select the Strong dictionary the Topics list takes 5-10 seconds to fill. Then selecting the VineNT dictionary takes 5-10 seconds to fill the Topics list. Then selecting the Strong dictionary again takes 5-10 seconds to fill.

I re-installed version 11.1.0 and the Topics list for most of my Dictionaries fills within a fraction of second. The ISBE and NASEC dictionaries take about a second to fill.

My system is running Windows 10. It has an i5-4460 3.20 Ghz processor and 16GB of RAM.

Is anyone else running version 12.0.1 having this problem or have a solution?

The problem is the App Theme setting. Put that to None.

Secondly and this is from the developer... what do you need the list for? (you might have noticed that it defaults to off and you have to toggle it each time you start eSword)

Thanks for the quick response.  After I read your answer, I went to re-install v12.0.1 and now when the e-sword_1201_setup.exe program runs it gives me the option of Modifying, Repairing, or Uninstalling e-Sword. That strikes me as odd. I don't remember the installer giving me those options before when I was upgrading from one version to another.  I'm used to the installer just installing the new version over the older version.  I cancelled the installer because I'm not sure that any of those options are what I want to do.  Which option should I take? Or do I need to remove some leftover files or registry settings from the first time I had 12.0.1 on my system and then rerun the installer?

I like to keep the Topics window open because it allows me to search the dictionary for words that may not be linked in the text that I'm reading.  I usually start e-Sword shortly after rebooting my computer and then I leave it open until I have to reboot again.  It's not unusual for e-Sword to run for weeks before I have to restart it.

e-Sword resets it each time you restart e-Sword. It was apparently done to speed up the start time of the program.

Another thing which affects e-Sword's load time is the amount of resources required to load.
