The Use of the Law
The Lord requireth perfect obedience to all the ten commandments. All men by nature under sin, wrath, and eternal death. Christ hath redeemed believers from the curse of the law. Every man's best actions are corrupted and defiled with sin. The least sinful thought makes man liable to eternal damnation. Though man cannot be justified by his obedience to the law, yet shall not his obedience be in vain. Man is naturally apt to think he must do something towards his own justification, and act accordingly. Christ requires that believers do desire and endeavour to yield perfect obedience to all the ten commandments. Believers shall be rewarded for their obedience, and with what. After what manner believers are to make confession of their sins upon a day of humiliation. Why and to what end believers are to receive the sacrament of the Lord's Supper.

Edward Fisher, 1627-1655; My question is why would a theologian quote scripture as if it came from God, when in fact as far as I can tell the quote came from Eve miss-quoting God's word to Adam. Gen. 2:16-17; Gen 2:16  And Jehovah God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:
Gen 2:17  but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.

Eve's miss-quote of these verses adds "Or touch" Gen. 3:2-3; Gen 3:2  And the woman said unto the serpent, Of the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat:
Gen 3:3  but of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die.

I'm not sure, but I think Adam was beside Eve when she was having this conversation with Satan and why didn't Adam correct Eve's quote of God's word? Just thinking. Have a Blessed Day.

Well, the reason is pretty much simple. Eve had Adam twirled around her little finger. That's what happens when you have the most beautiful and gorgious woman in the world as your wife. Well, that's my theory anyway .

Blessings
