Olaf, "John" is the English translation for "Jan." Moreover, in English (seeing you speak the this language) the letter "J" is pronounced as a "G," as in like "George." As where in European languages , i.e., German, Dutch, Polish, etc., the letter "J" is pronounced as a "Y;" including Hebrew (and possibly Greek as well).

So, what is your problem with having the name, "John," which is the way we say it in English?

It's the same with my name "Stephen," which actually is Greek, and the "ph" is pronounced as an "f." But in English, most will say it as a "v," as in "Steven. How the "V" got there, I have no idea. And I have no issues with my name being said with a ''v," as that is how I say it as well. Moreover, I get offended with people who pronounce my name with an "f," and tell them quite frankly, "that's not my name!!!"

With that said, there are those who do have that name, and prefer it to be pronounced using the "f" and will state their name as such, and write their name as such: "Stefan," or similar (which is how Europeans do it).

Well, that's me done an' dusted, and trust you have a fantastic day.

Blessings,
