I am working on a foreign Bible and want to add chapter headings in that language.

I looked a French Bible for guidance, but its heading are in English and no different than KJV, NKJV, etc.:

     The Creation of the World

Is there any way to change the Bible's headings?

The headings of the e-Sword program can be turned off by Options and "Display Bible Pericope".
The SQL file that have the data is headings
But it is a part of the e-Sword program so you need permission from Rick Meyers to change it.

I use my own headers within the Bible verses in my Bible translation.
For a line break need you to use a "soft Return" This is shift+enter or shift+return instead of a "hard Return".(enter or return)

Could you post some sample syntax in how to insert your own header?

My own header with soft return isn't showing at all.

(make first a backup of the .txt file).

You need to change the extension .txt to .rtf WITHOUT converting the file.

The problem is that you use Foreign Characters and that soft return is not supported in .txt but in .rtf and .htm

I don't want the same problem as in your previous topic when you save it in Tooltip Tool

Use Notepad and type this in the beginning:

{\rtf1\ansi\ansicpg1252\deff0\deflang2057{\fonttbl{\f0\froman\fprq2\fcharset0 Times New Roman;}}
{\colortbl;\red0\green128\blue0;\red0\green128\blue128;\red255\green0\blue0;\red0\green0\blue255;}
\pard\nowidctlpar\tx1077

#define title=TITLE\par

#define abbreviation=ABBR\par

#define information=Enter Info Here\par

#define ot=1\par

#define nt=1\par

#define apocrypha=0\par

#define strong=0\par

#define versionHD=4\par

÷\par

\cf1 Gen 1:1\cf0  \cf1 Scroll 01 Genesis.\cf0\line\tab \cf1 [Creation].\cf0\line\tab In \i the\i0  beginning GOD created the Heavens and the Earth.\par
\cf1 Gen 1:2\cf0  And the Earth was without form, and void; and darkness \i was\i0  upon the face of the Abyss:\line\tab and the Spirit of GOD moved upon the face of the waters.\par

\par

\par

This is a soft return\line and every Bible verse must end on a hard return.\par

Rev 22:21 ....  Amen!\par}

Save the file and rename it to example.rtf

\tx1077 is the space(Layout) measure for the whole file in rtf code

\line is line break or soft return in rtf code.

\tab is to make space (Layout) in rtf code.

\par is a hard return.

\par} is the ending.

\cf1 \cf0 is green in this case in rtf code

\i  \i0  are italics

Now open the example.rtf with Tooltip Tool.

I should first use notepad for \line and then if it is done saving it as .txt and rename to .rtf

Then using Tooltip Tool to make an e-Sword file WITHOUT saving this file.

The HTM version is easier

<br> is soft return

<p> is hard return (every Bible verse must end on a hard return)

Suffix to add to each line: <p>

I must be missing something because this is what I get:

The Creation of the World

Gen 1:1  Scroll 01 Genesis.
 [Creation].

 In the beginning GOD created the Heavens and the Earth.
Gen 1:2  And the Earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the Abyss:
 and the Spirit of GOD moved upon the face of the waters.

I am saving in ModulesHD (old method).

It should work for BBLX modules because it is RTF code. With selecting tab space.

It is much harder with a HD module because it is based on HTM:

To make space after the line beak need you first to make the module.

Then use the program "DB browser for SQLite"

Open database: file and open database and select all files (*)   and Export the file(file and export) select everything.

Open the file with notepad and use "unbreakable space" after the line break then save it in UTF-8 coding.

Between the >< is unbreakable space. >         <

Then Import the file: file and import and select all files (*) and choose a file name then save as database and exit (file and  exit)

Remove the .db of the file name an move it in the e-Sword directory.
