Michael,

I searched the Full text of "Catalog of Copyright Entries 1935 Books New Series Vol 32 Pt 1 For the Year 1935" and didn't find anything.
I am looking for other "parts" if this is part 1.
I downloaded and searched the 20170427-copyright-renewals-records.csv and didn't find anything.
They may be the same text in different forms.
You said "1935 U.S, copyright renewal records from 1962, 27 yr renewal date.  It also may not have been renewed."
Where did you get this from?

Thanks : )

1935 U.S, 2nd ed. from wikipedia

27 yr renewal date. U.S, copyright renewal law works from 1923 to 63.  Must be renewed that 27th year or PD.

According to the cover of the book the above is stated incorrectly.   The Book Society of Canada Limited. does not own the copyright but Ivan Panin.  It says copyright 1934 by Ivan Panin (p.4).

The Book Society of Canada Limited probably reprinted it.  Now one can check the 1914 to the 1934.

Wow!

You guys are amazing. I looked and didn't find any of this.  I found a version Google made. It was the 1914 edition.

I think if a book was first copyrighted in the US then regardless of where it's printed US laws apply for renewals and expiration. If it's first copyrighted in another country then because of NAFTA or other international laws the international laws can apply.

Good point about who copyrighted it versus who printed it!

Thanks so much Olaf and Mike. I will follow the links adn see what I can use : )

Again, thanks so much : )

"if a book was first copyrighted in the US then regardless of where it's printed US laws apply for renewals and expiration."

--This is correct as well as simultaneously published in US and another country.  So stated on copyright laws.  Sure another country will take your money but the US decides if it legally binding on the US.
