Folks,

I never thought I'd say this but: I think most worthwhile public domain content is now in e-Sword format!

There are a few titles I'd like to see, like the Speaker's Bible, but the intensity of Greek and Hebrew puts this out of reach for me.

Question: Is there anything else, big or small, that you would like to see in e-Sword format? We're mostly restricted to public domain material, but even if you don't know what that is, suggest anyway.

I WOULD DESIRE A TOOL, WHEN MY MAIN HARD DRIVE LOOSES FOLDERS, OR CRASHES, TO HAVE A TOOL WHICH WOULD REBUILD OR RE ATTACH MY PROGRAMS TO MY E-SWORD ENABLING ME TO NOT HAVE TO RE-INSTALL MY E-SWORD DOWNLOADS AGAIN. THIS IS MY 3RD TIME I HAD TO RE-INSTALL EVERY ITEM INCLUDING MY E-SWORD.EXE PROGRAM. [YES I HAVE BACKUP OF ALL OF MY DOWNLOADS AND MY E-SWORD ON SEVERAL DISKS.]

I ALSO ASK ABOUT THE POSSIBILITY SOME ONE ELSE MIGHT HAVE TO RECOVER FROM ANY FORM OF ELECTRICAL OVERLOAD AS WHEN LIGHTENING HITS THE ELECTRICITY SOURCES. I CLOSE AND TURN OFF MY HARD DRIVES AND COMPUTER EVERY NIGHT WHEN I CEASE WORKING ON MY COMPUTER.

Hi

First no need to yell

it seems you may be backing up the exe files not the raw file (ie topx bblx dctx etc)

where you would after your crash load the backup  storage media (ie flash drive CD etc.) you would highlight all your raw files and as a group you would paste them in the proper folder(s)

May God change our hearts to what the truth is

2Ti_2:15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

Rom_9:16 So then it is not of him that willeth, nor of him that runneth, but of God that sheweth mercy.

2Ti 2:24-25  And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

There are tools which are extremely readily available that one can use to save their data, they are called Backup Tools, which I see that you do. However, when it comes to crashes directly resulted from hardware failure, there is no tools available to fix that problem, and the only best option is to either buy a new hardrive and replace the old one, or buy a new one.

Another thing you can do is create a System Restore, so that when you do encounter a problem of where you are at in your current Windows settings, you can restore your previous session.

Some sort of automated e-Sword backup is a great idea.

One thing you could do now is create a DropBox.com account. That comes with a free 2 gigs. Install the PC app for DropBox. Synchronize your e-Sword resource folders to backup to DropBox. You would always have a mirror backup on DropBox for free.

It would be even nicer if we had an automated solution with no leg work required by the user. But this is a good-for-now solution. Maybe I can write a tutorial or shoot a youtube video of this for people who might struggle with setting up a DropBox backup of their e-Sword material.

Other tip for you: Get a good surge protector for your computer if you have spikes in electricity.

Wow, a great idea to have a back-up or system you could place your current E-sword on. I have lost count of the times I've had to re-install all my modules.

And as for screaming, keep up the good work, so I can be lazy and not have to magnify my pages.

Thank you Josh for all you do for us.

Could you maybe give us a step by step method as to how we use the DropBox for our back-up and then how to reload the information back into a restored E-sword program on our computer.

I suspect many of us struggle with comprehension on how to load certain modules such as getting zip-files into our E-sword. (I know I do).

Thanks again.

Since I have e-sword on my desktop, (windows 10) my laptops (one windows 10, one windows 7)), and my tablet (windows 7), if one of my systems crashes (My desk top  did last week), I merely copy my e-Sword directory to a flash drive, and then to the newly restored system.

I also tend to backup my e-Sword directory to both DVD and to flash drive frequently, so generally (unless I have added a new module since I last backed up) I don't need to spend the 15 or so minutes copying to flash drive (I have lots of modules).

Hope this helps.

Thus says the LORD, "Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, (Jeremiah 9:23-24a)

"Defenders of the faith are inclined to be bitter until they learn to walk in the light of the Lord. When you have learned to walk in the light of the Lord, bitterness and contention are impossible." --Oswald Chambers, in Biblical Psychology from The Quotable Oswald Chambers.

That's the way I do it. Easy and straight forward, and not hard to do.

When it comes to backing up on the Cloud, some are a lot more generous than others. And I really do mean a massive more generous than others. One I found, Degoo, gives 100GB free storage. This is for real, and I'm not kidding. Its the best that I have thus far seen. If anyone knows anything better than that, please bang it up on here so we can check it out.

It did as I've spent a lot of time trying to make and understand how to make a usable backup. (That I can use)

The biggest problem is the description on how to do it. What I've learned so-far is simple, at least for me. The first thing I kept running into was finding the right e-Sword folder that contained all the modules I had on my current computer. An HP Brand(Windows 10 is a nightmare sometimes.)

Once I clicked on HP (C:) then Program Files (x86) then e-Sword (I'd found what I was looking for. Then all I had to do was load the program on a flash drive.

The only problem is all my notes in the Editors module does not transfer which is the next problem to figure out.

Any suggestions are always welcome. (They just have to be real simple.)
