e-Sword 10.2 will be released soon. Here's a sneak peak of what's coming:

Scripture references in the Bible view that have associated Study Notes will now display a wavy underline (in the Bible view). This is your reminder that a Study note exists for that verse.

The Reference Library now has automatic Bookmarks for every article. The Graphics Viewer also has automatic Bookmarks for each module. This allows e-Sword to "remember" where you were when you stopped reading, either when you switch to a new module or when you shut down e-Sword.

Most Commentary modules do not contain specific Chapter Notes. For those chapters that do not, the Chapter Notes mode will now display all of the Verse Notes for that chapter. This is very convenient for viewing those commentaries that have scattered notes.

The built-in Downloader now allows direct downloading of Premium modules without needing to run separate EXE files. A new Info... link displays additional information about the given module.

The VerseList feature will now accept numerous Scripture references at once for populating the list. For example, entering the following list is now valid:
Mat. 10:42; 2 Sam 9:1, 7; Prov. 14:31; 19:17; Mark 9:41; John 19:26-27; 21:15-17; 1 Cor 16:21-22; 2 Cor 4:5; 5:14-15; 8:7-9; Gal. 5:6, 13, 22; 1 Thess 4:9-10; 1 Pe 1:22; 1 John 3:14-19; 4:7-12, 20-21; 5:1-2

A new Editor hotkey Ctrl+Shift+J will convert a Scripture reference into Bible text. The Bible text is from your currently selected Bible and the formatting is based on the settings in the Copy Verses dialog.

Thanks Brother Josh for the preview. It sounds like some very positive changes, and I look forward to getting it.

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

While relatively minor, these additional features should be well received by all. The .cmtx viewing for all comments in a chapter when no chapter level content exists will be especially useful.

I for one am especially looking forward to the bookmarks in the atlas section and the topix section. It will considerably simplify my studying by allowing me to jump back and forth between refrences without having to search for the page where I left off previously.

A question: when I write anything on on Journal, Topic, Study Notes, how can I save it outside  e-sword? I mean, if the computer crashes, how can I save the Notes? Before it crashes, in on external hard disk?

we have always available internet to download again al the resources of e-sword; but personal notes may be lost. So I would ba glad th keep them outside e-sword. Is that possible? Or should I copy the whole e-sword?

I´m not sure if this is the place to make this question. Please excuse me in that case, but this question has troubled me for some time...

May God bless all the love and work you carry on!

My wish list for the next e-Sword update:

1. Make it where i can open the "search" window (after having used it once this session) and be able to type in my next search without having to manually click on the box and delete the previous search.  As it is now, I open the search window and start typing, and as soon as I hit the spacebar, the whole thing closes...and it didn't record what I typed.  This is my biggest complaint.

1a. In the search window, put the binoculars button (the search button) next to the search box where you type the stuff in.

1b. Put an "x" at the top of the search window so we can close it out normally instead of having to click "okay" or "cancel."

2. The ability to create Bible modules with the option for tooltipped cross-references after each verse.  As it is, you can't tooltip a Bible module.

3. The ability to create Bible modules with the footnotes built in as a tooltip-like feature (like the NASB module).

I think that's it for now...

-Brad

C:\Users\your user name\Documents\e-Sword

The above is the default location for e-Sword saving your personal notes (etc.) on most Windows PC's. I zip it up on a regular basis and put it on a backup DVD with other files that I certainly don't want to lose.

I also WinRAR my entire main e-Sword directory to the same DVD when I do a backup. I have to use WinRAR instead of ZIP because I have more than 2 gigabytes of files in that directory. The default location for most Windows PC's is:

C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword

I have many e-Sword files that I've collected over the years, and I would have a very hard time replacing some of them, especially those that I made myself for personal use. I hope this helps you some.

There's one known bug in the 10.2 release. The bug is in the underlying text control that e-Sword now uses.

Pasting text from some commentaries, dictionaries, and topic/reference library modules into a word processor results in either an error, nothing pasted at all, or plain text pasted with no formatting (no bold, italics, underlining, color, etc).

a) Pasting into Microsoft Word shows plain text

B) Pasting into Wordpad doesn't work at all--no text comes through and no error shown
c) Pasting into OpenOffice Writer produces an error, "Requested clipboard format is not available"

d) Similar results likely appear for other editors and word processors (the above are the three I happen to have installed).

Pasting text internally (from an e-Sword window to the Topic Editor) does work fine. The bug occurs when you are pasting text outside of e-Sword. Some commentary and dictionary resources are not affected. Most every Topic/Reference Library module is effected.
