I am currently running e-Sword 10.4 and now cannot download a Bible, so it looks like I will have to upgrade.

My question is, "Do I have to change all my Bible/Commentary/... files? I remember when e-Sword 11 came out, I read that I needed to change the files because the structure had changed.

I don't want to loose the modules that I have? What is required?

Please advise!

Charles

All modules for e-Sword 9 and 10 "working" in e-Sword 11 and 12.
However, there are some problems with e-Sword e-Sword 9 and 10 in e-Sword 11 and 12.

1) Bible modules do not support format in Compare "mode": so no italics, bold, line-breaks,... in Compare "mode".
2) Bad rtf coding is viewable and non-ASCII characters may not show correctly.
3) search "mode" may not work for accented letters and Hebrew or Greek scripts.
4) Bad rtf coding in a BBLX file may block or corrupt(colour, font, bold) the other Bible files after it in Compare "mode"

Modules for e-Sword 9 and 10 are rtf based (and the file extension ends on a X)
while modules for e-Sword 11 and 12 are htm based (and the file extension ends on an I)
So BBLX is for Sword 9 and 10 but BBLI is for e-Sword 11 and 12. (the same for CMTX and CMTI files)

Modules for e-Sword 11 and 12 are Apple modules. (So they work also for e-Sword X, e-Sword LT and e-Sword HD)
And the newer features working for Apple modules. (Tooltip and footnotes in Bible modules)

Those are the reasons why I try to convert all the modules to the newer Apple format.
The last version for the moment of e-Sword for PC is 12.1.0
The Apple Converter can copy and convert every module except the "locked modules".
After that you convert it must you place the e-Sword 10 modules to another folder so that they have no influence on e-Sword 12.1.0.

I'm confused here; I'm using e-Sword 11.2.2 and all bible modules have extensions ending with X, including those listed in Download section. I have no problems, even though I use program in Linux Wine.

So all your modules using the old e-Sword 9/10 format:

(except maybe the updated locked models from the "Download section" of the e-Sword program but that doesn't matter).
