I have read the instruction in the User's Guide for ToolTag NT, and followed the steps exactly, but I get error messages when I try to make a Bible module, just using the first five verses of Genesis, as Mr. Bond did in the guide. The only difference from what he did was: the Bible text was in Esperanto, not English. Does that make a difference, and if so, what can be done to get around that situation. I'm at a loss to know what to do.

Hello,

Can you post your RTF file here? WIthout seeing the file or knowing what the error message was, we can't help.

Wow, nice job on getting all the verses formatted properly.

You did everything right---except you need the module header lines at the top of your file. Click Modules > Module Define Variables > Bible to generate the module header lines (see attached screenshot for the header lines, top left corner.). Then you just click Modules > Bible > Save Bible File book chap:verse --RTF (see attached screenshot). Also note the ÷ symbol beside the first verse. After doing this, your Bible .bblx generated fine! Even on a fast computer, it did take a good 5 minutes to generate the bblx, though.

Be sure to change the tab abbreviation name in the header line (define abbreviation). And add any comments to the comments section of the header line (define comments). Also be sure to set define ot=1 and define nt =1. That means the Bible has both an Old Testament and a New Testament (again, see screenshot).

Was wondering why you were creating this resource, until I looked at the copies in circulation.
  • The metadata of the "x" version is correct, but has the text has Biblos induced errors.
  • The metadata of the standard version is completely wrong. (How Esperanto got confused with Klingon, I'll never know.)This copy also has Biblos induced errors.
FWIW, there also is a Klingon version of the Bible in e-Sword format.

Well, I did everything just as you said, Josh, but I still get errors.

I added the module declarations so they looked like your screenshot. When I added the mark (Ctrl-M), I then went to the file menu and "Added" the file. Should I have used "Insert?"

Anyway, the error message I got was:

Report the following:
FILE ARGUMENT ERROR
AppendStart2[2] (file~_tcnul) _xntie ret__1+_/0, _nnums, _xnnums

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
AppendStart2[2] *
BGen3[36]
>[fmTxCtrl.mModules.mBblx.mSave3;Click]
<[fmTxCtrl;Wait]
Start[45]

The underscores are unprintable characters.
This error message is followed by a FILE TIE ERROR for every verse in the Bible, all 31,102 or so.

What am I doing incorrectly?

Incidently, I'm using Windows 7, and LibreOffice (no MS Office).

Zip your text and upload it. Or upload the first 15 lines or so including the first several lines of verses. Or take a screenshot of that area and upload it. Without seeing the first few lines, I can't determine what's wrong. If you made your screen look like my screen that I uploaded, it will work. :) One specific thing to check is you should have only 1 division symbol in the whole document. And that symbol should be, as shown in my picture, beside genesis 1:1.

Oh, one big thing to check: make sure your using the most recent version of Tooltip NT, which is .94 or .95. Certainly upgrade if you're using .7x or .6x. Some of those early versions can be unreliable. If we're using the updated version of Tooltip NT and the our text is the same, then if it works for me, it will work for you. :)

Josh,

I am using version .94 of NT.

Picture 0001: Here's a picture of my screen before I try to make the module.

Picture 0002: Here the program is asking me what name I want to use to save the file.

Picture 0003: The name I chose.

Picture 0004: The error message.

I tried to upload a zipped file, but got the message: "You aren't permitted to upload this kind of file" It's a 7-Zip file.

Your syntax is right. Your version number is good.

Looking at the "file argument" error message, it makes me wonder if Tooltip isn't liking the filename (something odd in the filename? nothing appears to be). Or if Tooltip lacks the permissions to write to your user documents folder? I'm the administrator on my pc, so I can't test this last theory. I will refer Brent to this thread, as he will know more about this error.

In the mean time, please try outputting the module to just a normal folder c:\work or something similar. That would rule out the "permissions theory". Either way, maybe Brent can shed some light.

7zip has it's own extension. The site should let you upload just .zip. If you upload it, I'll be happy to try to create a module from it to see if I can replicate your error.

Josh,

It's not a very large file (only 4mb), so I'll just upload it. So you can try to duplicate my error.

Also, anyone else that might have some insight as to the problem...
