Thanks for asking about this, because if you were confused, others probably were too! :)

I'm happy to report that the CEO of College Press Publishing has granted us (BibleSupport.com) permission, in writing, to make and distribute e-Sword modules (free of charge) of their "Old Green" commentaries shown here: http://www.collegepr...efront/node/238

I will begin work on this when I finish with Dr. Peter Pett's commentary.

Josh

Amen! - This is great news! Thanks for asking for permission to make the module, and I thank you in advance for any who work on this project. I'm almost sure that I know what this is, and it's EXCELLENT!

Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

College Press has announced that they will not reprint their very popular commentary set from the 1950's/60's. However, they have made all the books in the set available as free pdf downloads. The existing College Press NT mod is a much more recent set based on the NIV.

I am planning on beginning the work on the original College Press set next month. If anyone wants to assist, that would be welcome. There are about 70 volumes in the set.

Contact me if you would be willing to assist with this effort.

Hey Brad,

We received written permission from the CEO of College Press to make e-Sword modules of that old commentary set. (Logos is also publishing this set for $299, I think, ). The restrictions given to us is we cannot charge for it, but we wouldn't do that anyway!

It's going to be a big job and that's why I haven't started on it yet. Each PDF will have to be OCR'ed through Abby Finereader. And then the text will need to be proofed for errors and formatting corrections. And then the text divided by passage into a commentary. I'm not sure when I would be able to help you. I have 2 large works I'm trying to get done.

Josh

I think I have some people who might be willing to do some proofreading of it once I get it converted into Word format. The plan is to have it finished by July 31 of 2012. Earlier would be better, but I am making no promises.

It might be faster to spellcheck it than proofread it. That will alert you to any Greek and expose OCR errors. I did that with the Expositor's Bible to catch the Greek and as it turns out, it caught a lot of OCR errors that slipped through during the topic creation round. And it was faster than proofreading by far.

ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!

I now have the first volume of the 47-volume set of College Press Commentaries finished! At this rate, I'll be finished by 2014!

I have a distinct feeling that with the next volume, things will go quicker. Not because there is some simple macro for fixing it (which there isn't...trust me), but because hopefully there will more of the book that deals specifically with the text. As it is, I've already created a 38-chapter topx file to deal with the introduction to the Bible, to Biblical criticism, to the canon, to random evolutionary ideas, etc, etc, etc... After discussing it with Josh, I've come to the conclusion that the only way those parts will ever get read is if they are in a topx file. If I put it in the cmtx file, it would require (no exaggeration here) 30-40 pages of notes on some verses, which don't really even deal with the text. over 600 pages of commentary, and it goes through Genesis chapter two.

I am officially 2.6 % finished!

Brad
