American King James Version
Produced by Stone Engelbrite

This is a new translation of the Bible, based on the original King James Version. It is a simple word for word update from the King James English. I have taken care to change nothing doctrinally, but to simply update the spelling and vocabulary. I have not changed the grammar because that could alter it doctrinally.

I am hereby putting the American King James version of the Bible into the public domain on November 8, 1999.

Michael Peter (Stone) Engelbrite

"...update the spelling and vocabulary".

The more straightforward thing would be to say, "Americanized the spelling and vocabulary".

I used the American King James together with a British spelling checker to update the Webster Bible (Restored Holy Bible version 1.0)
The American King James(AKJ) made one update error saith->said instead of says.
For the rest is it the King James 1769 (not the 1611 version as he claims on his website) updated with an American spelling checker.
Some archaic words are updated (asswage, meteyard, wot,..)
The thou, thee, thy, thine and ye are replaced by you.
There are no other vocabulary changes.

Can't you update the "said" to "says"? I just noticed it and thought it was a hysterical error and came here. But you knew this already, so I'm wondering why not corrected?

Because Michael Peter (Stone) Engelbrite who is the editor/translator has never corrected this "replace" error in 290 verses and 307 matches. saith=says

BH is not Stone Engelbrite. See Bible menu information

All the editions of the "American King James" have this error.

(And the same error is also in the KJ2000 and KJV21 but they are more edited and have Copyright).

If you find his e-mail and he is still alive then is there a little chance that he make an update if he really will do it after not updating it since November 8, 1999.

Stone Engelbrite has made "American King James" in Public Domain so from legal viewpoint can everybody edit this module but you must make it clear that it is an edited version or update of American King James and give Stone Engelbrite all credits for the original version (no copyfraud). The translation must stay in Public Domain.

Or try another better translation.
