This work is called the "Restoration Commentary" because all of
the authors whose works are included in this Commentary are,
or were involved in the American Restoration Movement which
began in the late 1700s and continues until this day.

The movement has resulted in the establishment of the Churches
of Christ (conservative), the Christian Church (Liberal) and the
Disciples of Christ (Ultra-Liberal). Actually, this movement began
in the British Isles many years before the "Great Awakening" in the
early 1800's. There are some publications out of England that
suggest it began during the days of William Shakespeare and the
pedo-Baptists. James and Robert Haldane (brothers), whose works

are found on this website were part of this movement and were
involved in the establishment of congregations in the British Isles
and also in Europe.

These modules have been prepared by a Gospel preacher in the
Lord's Church for the benefit of all "serious" students of the Bible.
By the way, the poems by Ralph L. Starling are included not just
because he's my uncle, but because I like his poetry. He was a
great gospel preacher for over 60 years.

There may be some portions of the Zerr Combined Bible Commentary

found in the Restoration Commentary, but there is a big difference in
the two.  The Restoration Commnetary was initially designed to take

the place of the Zerr Combined Bible Commentary.  To make a long

story short, my computer crashed and I lost all my source code, etc.

for the Zerr Commentary.  As a result I decided to create a totally

new Commentary based upon writers, preachers and authors from

the American Restoration Movement.  Thus the name Restoration

Commnetary.

The formatting of the text in the Restoration Commentary is designed

to be somewhat more professional in appearance with much better

resources.  Eventually, when the Restoration Commentary is complete

I may very well go back and add Zerr's Verse-by-Verse Commentary

to the Restoration Commentary.

One of my goals has been to add the notes and commentary of several

commentators for each book of the Bible.  Because all resources are

from preachers involved in the Restoration Movement, all work are authored

either by members of the Church of Christ and/or the Christian Church..

The Restoration Commentary started out just as a New Testament Commentary,

but I quickly realized that because I never completed the Zerr's Commentary, I

should redo things and make a more complete commentary covering all 66 books

of the Bible.   Actually, I am going backwards from Genesis and am now trying to

complete the Book Notes for Jeremiah.  The next volume will be the Book of

Isaiah.  So, all in all, this project has turned into a bigger project then I intended,

but hope that I can finish it in the not too distant future.

When I finish with the Major Prophets I may combine all of the Volumes for the

Major Prophets and Minor Prophets into One Single Volume.  I will say that

the time spent on this project has been rewarding.  If I didn't have responsibilities

such as a secular job and preaching, I might be able to finish this commentary

sometime this year.  But who knows....  Thanks for asking about this Commentary.

.

Many thanks for your information. It helps a lot.

Would it be possible (once you take a brief respite :-)) to make it just one big Commentary, including the present one and Zerr? Are they compatible?

I enjoy both, but am not sure ...

Blessings!

Well, as soon as I Finish the Book of Jeremiah, I may do just that!

The only problem I anticipate is that a few of the modules are .cmti formatted

modules and don't know if there will be any errors if I combine the .rtf code

Guess I will find out.  So, don't worry, I will try and do that.   Soon as I

finish with the book of Jeremiah.

Thanks.

I'm using e-Sword version 10.4.0.  I like the line spacing and other things better in this older version than the newer html-driven versions.  For some reason, OTRC1.cmtx is not working.  I get a blank window when browsing books Genesis through and including 1 Kings.  Surprisingly, 2 Kings - Job work okay.
