Problem deleting an e-Sword module?

in Problem deleting an e-Sword module

I've noticed duplicates in my reference section...

One is a TOPX and the other is a REFX.

I should ditch the TOPX ones right? :)

Also out of curiosity, whats the difference between a BBLI and a BBLX bible file?  Compressed or encrypted?

I dont think this is a Biblical statement to make. the Lord has no need of anything. That is a biblical statement. Sloppy thinking makes sloppy theology. It is us who need the Lord. I am sure your heart is in the right place, but when it comes to the things of God, our heart should not determine anything about God. The Bible alone contains what we should think about God.

Thank you, Professor Pharisee, your opinion is noted.

Is His Name important?

in All about His Name

Hi it has nothing to do with language. That is actually the problem with these titles currently in use. God can be any god, just a title. HERE, as in Afrikaans/Dutch is also a title NOT a name! YAWEH is a name. The name of the Almighty Father (Father is also a title, btw!!) THAT is what YAWEH gave Moses in Ex 3:14. Why not use it? It is the correct thing to do, for EVERYONE with a name. It is also important to people, why would it not be for our Father (Jes 52:6). AND it is international... YAWEH, YAWEH SHUA, YAWEH RUACH. SHALOM everyone.

Ja, daar is n 1953 Afrikaanse vertaling module.

Is His Name important?

in All about His Name

e Sword surely has the ou Afrikaans vertaling as a module?

I find it too strange for words that an Afrikaans speaker would want to address God in Hebrew, especially seen as we do not even know exactly how to pronounce that name in its ancient form.  Even the very best scholars are only guessing much of the time.  The entire world of humanity refers to God as God, though there be many "afgode".  Of te wel, "God" in Afrikaans.  How does one say "John" in Afrikaans?  Johan?  Well, in Eph 1:1 I do not think that Iesou Xristou in the Greek means Zeus Christ!  (When did "Kurios" suddenly start to mean "Baal" in the Greek?)  It is Anglicized into Jesus Christ, and what is that in Afrikaans?  And qodesh in English tranlates as Holy, not "set apart", in most contexts, or in Afrikaans "heilig".

Is it possible that our Father in Heaven does not understand Afrikaans?  or perhaps He needs a translator?  I think not!  When you pray in Afrikaans, He understands you quite well and fully.  God created communication, because He communicates, and we are made in His image.  God created languages, they did not evolve from grunts.

God has more names than can be numbered (that's tough on the Muslims), for every name is a title and a description, and the names of the Lord given for us to use are of such nature as "God Who Heals You" or "God Our Victory" etc, and when we look for some special formula name for the Most High, we are simply looking at a description ("I Am") or another title or word for "God" in a language we know not too much about. Remember that a full description of God is an infinite undertaking.  And so His full Name is likewise infinite to us.

It is given to us to be reconciled with, approach, understand and worship in His presence our Heavenly Father through the the name of Jesus Christ/Iesou Xristou/ Yeshua haMassiach/ Iesu Christu or whatever the name of the only begotten Son of God equates to in another language.  We need know no more, to be complete in Him.

His name is also Emmanuel, King of Kings, Lord of Lords, The Bright and Morning Star, etc., yes, but at the name of Jesus, every knee must bow, both in Heaven and on Earth, and beneath the earth, and in this world, and in the world to come.  If we cannot understand an angel's name, how shall we begin to comprehend the name of the Father Himself that is given to the Son, for example, which is a simple scripture, yet one on which many, professing themselves to be wise, stumble, and fall into the "Jesus Only" error.  Let us not try to be wiser than God.

But for the sake of Christian scholarship, an essential ministry within the body of Christ, we study these matters in order to better understand them, not to build a specialist and alternative religious basis for redemption and fulness in Christ.  To reject the name of Jesus (in Afrikaans ook "Jesus", Ou Vertaling, 1933) is to reject the Person so named, and to proclaim "another Gospel" and so be accursed and lose your salvation.

If the many millions of miracles which occur around the world daily were attempted in any other name than the name of (in English and also Afrikaans) Jesus, or whatever other form of that Name as it may occur in any other language, those miracles would simply not occur at all, not being wrought in the only name vested with all power, forevermore, under (in English) God the Father.

If you want to become an expert in the Hebrew names of the Most High, study ancient Hebrew first, to something more than elementary level, then do a study of the Names.

Is someone perhaps saying that the four Gospels, and the rest of the New Testament were perhaps written in Hebrew, and not Greek?  And that YAHUAH gave His New Covenant revelation in Hebrew, and not Greek?  Then, my friend, you have just become the greatest historical authority on earth on New Testament Criticism, which is something I am inclined to think will be contested most heartily all around the world.  If we may only use the name of Jesus in its Aramaic form, the New Testament documents upon which the entire Christendom through nearly 2000 years has been firmly based are in fact a lie.  In which case, no one knows what Christianity really is, for all our doctrine is based on these very documents of which we have thousands of copies in Greek firstly, as well as early translations from Greek into Syriac, Egyptian, Latin etc.

Struggling with Christmas

in rauchlight's Blog

"First, I want to say that there is nothing wrong with going through the motions of a ritual when you don’t feel it; in fact, that’s why they are there in the first place."

&

"ourselves simply going through the motions; maybe communion, baptisms, etc. "

We expect too much from rituals.  No fireworks happened at baptism & communion.  rituals are not designed for  fireworks or even meant to be exciting but to deny ourselves (our wills).  There is no promise in NT of fireworks w. rituals but to do.  This does no mean that rituals are empty promises either.

One should be encouraged at a baptism (immersion) as well as encourage the participant.

Christmas is a special day not a day set out for remembrance.  We always  remember the LORD.

Struggling with Christmas

in rauchlight's Blog

There is a term Christians use that I personally hate, “fake it till you make it.” I understand it’s meaning, but isn’t it better to say, “pursue it until you find it?” That’s what the Magi did; they knew there was something there, and they didn’t have it, so they pursued it. God did not promise us that if we “fake we will make,” but if we “seek, we will find.”

Perhaps this is the best part of the of this blog, and the reason for it, is that to "seek and you will find" and etc., bit requires faith/belief, and that of having implicit trust in God both irrespective and despite of what the circumstances, situation and environment may dictate.

The operative word that Jesus used in Jn 3:16, was "Believe," which is the verb of the noun, "Faith/Belief". And what is even more amazing, Faith and Belief, comes from the same Greek word, πιστός (Pistos). What is even more amazing, is that Scripture teaches that without faith, its seriously impossible to please God. So, by trying to fake it 'till you make it," does not equate to faith/belief, but equates to more than wishful thinking and pretense (pretending that it's real or that one has it).

So with all that said, great blog, and thoroughly enjoyed reading it.

Blessings, and Merry Christmas,

Is His Name important?

in All about His Name

So many wise people full of Scripture knowledge, but not one have a answer for me????

Shalom. I wish to give you an answer. I think there are some bible sites, such as biblehub.com that may have your language. I do not know of any hard copies with the correct Names other than in english. Try searching for free online or public domain scriptures in (your language).

Also, just to put it out there...there is one person, a priest, who recorded the Name of our Creator. Flavius Josephus described the high priest in great detail. In that description, he says "Yod Hey Waw Hey" is the spelling of the Name and that these are consonental vowels, meaning they are not consonants as when they are seen elsewhere. Yod then says "ee". Hey says "ah" and Waw says "oo". Ee-ah-oo-ah! Say it quickly, and it sounds pretty much like 'Yahuah. Y'shua's Name is a longer story, but it's all over the old testament. Yeshua means "salvation" in Hebrew.

I hope you find scripture in your language.
Shalom,
Jaime

Cain and Adam Were Two Different Breeds of Mankind - This Is Monumental News! (Video)

in TheLightArk's Blog

But the word used for Cain is 'ı̂ysh not 'ĕnôsh. 'ĕnôsh is only used twice in Genesis and both times in this verse: Gen 19:4  But before they lay down, the men ('ĕnôsh) of the city, even the men ('ĕnôsh) of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter", the Lxx renders this word ανδρες which is 'males':

So, back to 'ı̂ysh  which is the actual Hebrew word in your proof text, what about these references?

Gen 2:23  And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man ('ı̂ysh).

Gen 2:24  Therefore shall a man ('ı̂ysh) leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh."

Gen 3:6  And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband ('ı̂ysh) with her; and he did eat.

Gen 3:16  Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband ('ı̂ysh), and he shall rule over thee.

Gen 6:9  These are the generations of Noah: Noah was a just man ('ı̂ysh) and perfect in his generations, and Noah walked with God.

Now about the 'twin' theory, there is no evidence for that. Looking at Gen 4:1-2 Notice the wayyiqtol verbal sequences. The wayyiqtol verbal form denotes a sequence of consecutive actions, which is easier to see if you use 'and-then' to show the separate but sequential actions, so vss 1-2 would read "And Adam knew Eve his wife; AND-THEN she conceived, AND-THEN she bare Cain, AND-THEN she said, I have gotten a man from the LORD. AND-THEN again she bare his brother Abel. AND-THEN was Abel a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground.
