Posted by hrob1 on 20 November 2013 - 12:10 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Thanks for your reply!!

Yes I still have problems with zip files.

My e-address is: hrob1@asndycable.com

I am still a computer neophite and need all the help I can get.

Because I have just about seen 83 winters come and go, I don't see

too much hope for honing computer skills.

I can't get the zip file, Restored Holy Bible into the Bibles on E-Sword.

I can access it only through Open Office.

I have no problem with zip files on my latop which is Windows XP.

My desktop, which I use most of the time has W-7, 64 bit and any zip file gives me trouble

opening.

Thanks so much for your help!!

#17612 E-Sword loading slow

Posted by hrob1 on 26 June 2013 - 09:38 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Maybe some of your Brethren who are copmputer literate can give me some help.

I have been using E-Sword for several years with much pleasure and instruction from the WORD.

Lately though, it has slowed down to a crawl. It will take as long as four minutes to load up.

I have tried to delete almost everything that is useless. I have several PC programs to speed up and eliminate

useless data. I'll admit that I have loaded down the site with many of the Bibles, Dictionaries and Commentaries

but I did not experience the problem until lately. When I click on a couple of the Commentaries,

the screen goes light and it will take as long as three minutes to return to normal. Should I delete these

volumes?  I have W7, 64 bit and the latest E-Sword installed. My PC runs ok other than my favorite, E-sword.

The e-Sword loads up with the blue logo immediately but then takes so long to load the essentials.

Thanks so much for your help!!

#15942 HELP! Why zip files??

Posted by hrob1 on 23 February 2013 - 10:08 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

I have for a couple of years now, tried unsucesfully to open up a zip file.

Why are so many of the E-Sword files in zip format?

I have7-zip and I have have followed all the tutorials, but I just can't seem to get it.

I have the module installer, I let 7-zip handle the files and send them to E-Sword.. No luck.

Why can't all files be in exe. or whatever???

What advantage is a zip file anyway?

Certainly not to old men like me.

Please I Need Help. Even now I notice that Chas. Spurgeon's commentary on Psalms(Treasury of David) is in zip.

Thankfully I downloaded them in exe. and have used them for several years.

Also Harry Ironside.

I'm an old preacher who has taken to computers for help..I sure need it.

THANKS,

hank

#15873 I still can't open zip files.

Posted by hrob1 on 19 February 2013 - 03:54 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

I have yet to be ab le to pen a zip file. I have 7-Zip on both desktop and laptop. How do I get them to E-Sword?

On my laptop, 7-zip says it sending to E-=Sword but I still cant find it. I tried for awhile to load J.Vernon McGee's Thru the Bible notes.

I can find the file pn the laptop but can't open it. The window says it can't open to put in the program to open it. I tried everything I knew and it wouldn't do anything.

With the desktop if I download a zip fil, e_Sword opens but no file. I can't even find the file.It just disappears.

I have downloaded the module installer on both machines. but I am just ZIPPED out.

Please any help is appreciated.
