#35330 I have 11.6 tablet screen and yet hard to manage. Can I enlarge tabs?

Posted by Jackdashack on 12 February 2019 - 01:05 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Well I said it there in the title pretty much. I just purchased a windows based tablet with a 11.6 screen. BIG for a tablet. But all the tabs on e-Sword are so small it takes multiple times to hit the small options and tabs the right way. I thought I did read something once about a "Zoom for old eyes" or something to that effect. Can anyone point me to such a thing?

I would be very appreciative.  I MEAN I WOULD BE VERY APPRECIATIVE !!

#35286 Can anyone explain how Dropbox can be used with e-Sword

Posted by Jackdashack on 08 February 2019 - 10:14 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

I have resolved this on my own. Many many trial and err. Once I saw it done, I thought why does everyone's helpful explanations and "go-to" links always say it's so simple and straight forward and yet they seem to use so many words. I think I get that. I tend to over explain things and often I see their eyes glaze over. That's a "tell" and I quickly get to the end.   :D

#35285 Any One Have The Issue of Copy Verse to Study Notes Not Working?

Posted by Jackdashack on 08 February 2019 - 10:09 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Maybe I don't have an option turned on? I've used Copy Active verse to study notes. Copy Verse and then paste into study notes and neither works. Any thoughts?   I'm stuck!!  ":-\\

#35284 Where went that left side bar for Editors, Bibles, etc. ?

Posted by Jackdashack on 08 February 2019 - 10:05 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

This was resolved by accident. When I had the 4 windows showing, which I believe is how the program first starts, I clicked the thumb tack icon and they started populating that left side as tabs as I deleted them. That's probably the backdoor way of doing it but it works for me.

#35283 QUESTIONABLE: MySword CS

Posted by Jackdashack on 08 February 2019 - 10:01 AM in MySword

I did finally get this done. And all I read seemed to be so confusing and complicated. Actually if I'd known how I myself resolved it, it's really simple. Just ask!  jep ":-Dx

#35268 Can anyone explain how Dropbox can be used with e-Sword

Watch video which will help you how you can get Dropbox to work in e-Sword.

Trust you will find it helpful.

Blessings,

I appreciate you being so helpful. But there's a question left in my mind. Don't know if I missed it.

Basically I get install e-sword.
Then make an e-Sword folder in Dropbox
Then open e-Sword and go to where Resources is and point to the Dropbox folder?

* In fact I uninstalled e~ first, then re-installed and made the folder in Dropbox. Went to resources and pointed the file to Dropbox>e-Sword and nothings in Dropbox?

But how does that folder get populated? We've moved no files there?

When I install e- on my computer I get a folder under (x86) and the journal, topic, study and markup are not in that (x86)folder. They are installed in my user: Jack2>documents>e-Sword and then in that folder are all those folder that hold notes and journal entries I just mentioned

* Could you give me a little clarification? Also under Resources do we change the user files: I'm not sure how Dropbox will monitor them for changes if they are in my user folder? Thanks!

Blessings,

Read this but listen only to the sounds!

Thoinks might! Due appreci-ite your help. No busting on you Aussies. I love the language. I was once watching a commercial for Outback Steak House here in USA and the narrator said steak. With your proper pronunciation I'm sure. I thought the way he pronounce steak, in Aussie was great and I was going to try. I got a reasonable facsimile but not good enough to pass.

Then I got a brainer. Instead of trying mimick the Aussie I said wait a minute let me come from this approach. A completely new word. Instead of looking at the word in letters look at it only as sounds.

Commercial: We have the best " stike " going. lol I don't know what a stike might be but it worked. So many words are best mimicked with a different word that comes out the right sound!

I have a good HS friend and HS band member who worked for ATCO Gas Australia, retired now, has lived in the South East of your land for decades. He has a farm of some sort in Narrikup. He's often invited me to come. Our/his home is Smyrna Delaware on the East Coast of USA. But it seems arduous. He actually gets back here once or twice a year. If you have Facebook here he is. But again, thanks. I listed to your video.

As I don't use dropbox myself I am not sure what is happening sorry I can't help more

You added for which I am grateful. I think I might have gotten the solution by much "more" trial and error. I'll report back definitively when I am sure. Thanks!

#35256 Can anyone explain how Dropbox can be used with e-Sword

The only real reason to use a site like dropbox or Google Drive is to move resources from one computer to another such as from a home computer to a work computer or between two personal computers. Modules for use with e-Sword install in to the the c:\program files (x86)\e-sword folder be default as the modules have to be on the same computer that e-Sword is installed on in order for e-Sword to work correctly. e-Sword does not have ability to uses resources directly from the internet.

The two resources options are folders that are part of e-Sword's installation and can only be set to folders that exist on your computer.

Yes your "use description" is right on. I want the ability to work on the PC. And when my neck and back is shot I'll go pick up the Windows Tablet and continue in some nice comfy chair.

I have all the modules in the places that e-Sword created. I followed this plan with which you might be familiar . . .

http://www.countryke....com/wp/?p=3322

More specifically this part .. .

" To do this, you’ll first need to create new journal notes, markup, study notes, and topic notes files in your Dropbox folder.  Do this from the computer where you have your personal information saved.  This will create blank files in those locations. You can then exit e-Sword and copy files from your My Documents/e-Sword folder to your Dropbox folder, overwriting the blank files you just created. When you next open e-Sword, your notes ought to be there. "

I re-read Dropbox's instructions on adding files. Simple just drag and drop.

But for some reason the user files are updating but the ones on Dropbox are not? I did a drag and drop with both the Resources and User Files. Leaving them intact in the PC orig configuaration.

My tongue is stuck on the flagpole and I can't get any further.
 oh brother !!

#35252 Can anyone explain how Dropbox can be used with e-Sword

Posted by Jackdashack on 02 February 2019 - 11:46 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

I did try a search on this forum but nothing showed when I searched Dropbox ?? I thought I'd seen plenty on that.

When you install e-sword as you know, There is the RESOURCES option.

2 LOCATIONS

1> Resources Location: c:\program files (x86)\e-sword
2> User Files Location: c:\users\jack2\documents\e-sword\

Which file locations are moved or changed into Dropbox?

You then relocate the Resources Location as Dropbox?
Do you make a folder in Dropbox named e-sword?

And does the User Files Location resource change from what's just above.

I would certainly appreciate any help and it would be a blessing.  Jack ":-Dx

#35250 Where went that left side bar for Editors, Bibles, etc. ?

Posted by Jackdashack on 02 February 2019 - 11:36 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Those windows are usual by the Biblebooks if you has moved the windows.

Or on the sides of the screen.

The most easy way to restore the windows is: set it back to default.

Click on help above and "Reset e-Sword Settings".

Thanks Katoog! I found my solution. Rick also recommended RESET but it didn't work. I remember several years ago that installation also gave me these sidebars. But what I did, not knowing the outcome. was when the 4 windows were show, one by one I unpinned them and they appeared on the left side. All's well and thanks! ":-Dx

#35247 Where went that left side bar for Editors, Bibles, etc. ?

Posted by Jackdashack on 01 February 2019 - 06:51 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

I did a complete new install of this great Bible program. But this time only showing is the maximized Bible. I can't find that left side bar having Dictionaries, Bibles, Editors etc.

It must be simple but simple often goes over my head. I have search and searched for that option.

Thanks for any help for sure!!  jack ":-Dx

#35211 Dropbox and e-Sword and how to tell eS where to find DB files.

Posted by Jackdashack on 26 January 2019 - 02:27 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

#35210 Dropbox and e-Sword and how to tell eS where to find DB files.

Posted by Jackdashack on 26 January 2019 - 12:49 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

I have placed all the files in dropbox that was explained here

http://www.countryke....com/wp/?p=3322

Now this article states that when those files change in eS then they will change in DB automatically. Or did he say make shortcuts to tell eS where to find them now or is there a place in eS that you can change all the locations of certain files such as bblx or emtx or topx . . . and etc.

Oh I've searched. What is so frustrating these days, not like the old days I mean 1996 I started, when you Google you might find  6 different answers to one issue. I take it's because the programs are changing so fast and the devices. The web is loaded even bloated with defunct answers to everything.

So, if anyone knows this I would be grateful! jack ":-Dx
