#36579 Font preference not working

Posted by Kamau Mweru on 31 August 2019 - 11:32 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Just want to report my findings and actions.

When I logged in as another user the fontsetting worked so obviously something happened to my user profile.

Searched long but could not find what it was so I deleted my user profile including all data. Restarted the computer and made a new user profile.

In this new profile the font setting works.

It is a drastic measure and a lot of settings etc. have to be made again. But at least e-Sword has a good font again.

Strange that no other programs were affected.

#36575 Font preference not working

Posted by Kamau Mweru on 30 August 2019 - 02:11 PM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

You are right it is not Arial, it looks more like Courier. The displayed font is not proportional and can not be changed.

When trying to change the size only the distance between the lines changes, not the size of the letters.

The problem is only affecting e-Sword. Not any other program.

By the way, I do not necessary need Arial the standard Verdana is also okay if I could change to that. But as explained, I can select any font in the font dialog window.

It displays as selected but nothing changes. The problem began yesterday without any action from my side.

#36560 Font preference not working

Posted by Kamau Mweru on 30 August 2019 - 09:18 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

It seems nothing helps.

Deinstalled e-Sword, deleted directory, cleaned registry, reinstalled.

No change and strangely enough e-Sword remembered the font-selection but did not use it.

There must be some hidden files somwhere.

#36555 Font preference not working

Posted by Kamau Mweru on 30 August 2019 - 07:13 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

Hi,

I updated to Version 12.0.1 and it seems that I can not select font any more.

The font displayed seems to be a small size courier, not at all convenient.

I have tried Options -> Font settings but no effect.

Any suggestions?

My preference would be Arial 12pt.

Greetings

#36440 How do I turn my bible in sqlite3 file into a bblx file ready to install in e...

Posted by Kamau Mweru on 20 August 2019 - 02:34 PM in e-Sword Tools & Utilities

Hi Gil,

The easiset way, if you have the bibletext and know some databse SQL etc... Is to create the bblx modeule this way.

--
-- File generated with SQLiteStudio v3.2.1 on Tue Aug 20 23:37:45 2019
--
-- Text encoding used: System
--
PRAGMA foreign_keys = off;
BEGIN TRANSACTION;

-- Table: Bible
DROP TABLE IF EXISTS Bible;
CREATE TABLE 'Bible' (Book INT, Chapter INT, Verse INT, Scripture TEXT);
INSERT INTO Bible (Book, Chapter, Verse, Scripture) VALUES (40, 1, 1, 'Detta är boken om Jesu Kristi, Davids sons, Abrahams sons, släkttavla.');
And so on the rest of the book,chapter,verse you have....
INSERT INTO Bible (Book, Chapter, Verse, Scripture) VALUES (66, 22, 21, 'Vår Herre Jesu Kristi nåd <i>vare</i> med er alla. Amen.*');

-- Table: Details
DROP TABLE IF EXISTS Details;
CREATE TABLE Details (Description NVARCHAR (250), Abbreviation NVARCHAR (50), Comments TEXT, Version INT, RightToLeft BOOL, OT BOOL, NT BOOL, Apocrypha BOOL, Strong BOOL);
INSERT INTO Details (Description, Abbreviation, Comments, Version, RightToLeft, OT, NT, Apocrypha, Strong) VALUES ('MyVerision', 'MyVer', 'Some description', 4, 0, 1, 1, 0, 0);

COMMIT TRANSACTION;
PRAGMA foreign_keys = on;

#36438 Languages different book abbreviations

Posted by Kamau Mweru on 20 August 2019 - 02:22 PM in e-Sword Tools & Utilities

Thank you Jon for your reply.

Being a programmer myself I can imagine that it might not be so easy to add even more facilities to the program.

But there might be an easier way to achieve it. I'll give an example:

In Swedish Genesis is normally abbreviated into 1 Mos. e-Sword uses 1Mo. Now if I make 2 verse links Gen_2:3 och 1Mo_2:3 they both work when I select Swedish as language for e-Sword.

But when I select English als language only Gen_2:3 works.

Likewise if I select Kiswahili both Gen_2:3 and Mwa_2:3 work but when I select English als language only Gen_2:3 works.

My thinking is this: Since the English abbreviation works even when another language is selected, it must be rather easy to do also "the opposite", that is, to let all the used abbreviations already included for the other languages work independently of selected language.

With "the developer" I assume you mean Rick?

Using HTML following is possible.

Example 1 which shows the link verbally: http://apage.somewhere.com

Example 2 which shows any text but activates the link: <a href="http://apage.somewhere.com" target="new">This is shown</a>

I searched several days for information on how to make a verse reference into a link. At the end I peeked into a file with verse links. Lo and behold, the only thing necessary was to swap the space for an underscore in the comments file. Joh 3:16 had to be Joh_3:16 (Would love to have such syntax documentation available)

Now my question:

Let's say the verse-link, as stored in the cmtx file, is {\cf2\ul Joh_3:16} blue and underlined as Joh 3:16.

Is it possible to display eg. "Gospel of John chapter 3 verse 16" or "Johannes Evangelium kapitel 3 vers 16" or "Injili ya Yohana sura ya 3 aya ya 16"? (similar to example 2 above) It would be convenient for comments and references for biblefiles in other languages.

In such case, how does that syntax look like.

It would be convenient for comments and references for biblefiles in other languages.

#36383 Which coding or cryption?

Posted by Kamau Mweru on 16 August 2019 - 11:40 AM in e-Sword Questions & Answers

In the database Matt. 1:1 which reads: "Detta är boken om Jesu Kristi, Davids sons, Abrahams sons, släkttavla."; Looks like this:

X'9F61B298DF9CCD335C1949937AC99536A725759C54E9C8F461EB527341D4132FE5FEA162A43D37FFEF6876E24F9A8387CAC41EF6F6E9A7EB5823068428159D6EE5B86034E6B5FBAC3A0BFF27C67B33849ABA75251B33A7325E7F2E12D10A1303'

What kind of cryption or coding is used?

How can I crypt/decrypt or code/decode?

(The text is in Swedish language.)
