#32210 tooltip tool 2017 1224 doesn't recognize Korean characters

Posted by SeongHeon Jeon on 31 December 2017 - 07:38 PM in e-Sword Tools & Utilities

I pulled out just Genesis from your file, using MS-Word as the display engine in T4 has difficulty with very large files such as your.  Tooltipped the file, there are a number of errors most of which I did not try to fix.  And built it into a version 3, CMTX file.

Thank you for bearing with me. Happy new year

What I'd like to figure out is why YOU are not being able to convert the file.  You are using the latest version now, correct?
addendum: your dropbox link is not working.

yes sir I am using the latest version

and the sample rtf on your link reports the same error

#32172 tooltip tool 2017 1224 doesn't recognize Korean characters

Hello

I think I will give it a last try on this

What I have tried so far:

1. I have changed the marker (it seems that I cannot go back to the default marker as it now seems to recognize '÷' as the strange character in second screenshot attached)

2. Changing windows 10's default language to English (used to use Korean), still no love.

3. Shortening the commentary that I want to convert: it works!!!   It converts OK with really short comments, but with the longer text it reports the error as in the first screenshot

If I cannot get this right this time, then, as a last resort, could someone please convert the file on the link to CMTI or CMTX for me.

https://www.dropbox....entary.rtf?dl=0

I know I will need to solve the problem since the file I want to convert still needs lots of work. I just want to see it work.

#32143 tooltip tool 2017 1224 doesn't recognize Korean characters

I have been able to reproduce the issue here which I think is the same you may be experiencing and it is not because of using Korean characters.  It is a bug, but one that can be worked around.  Be sure there is at least one line AFTER the last line that is marked for input.  You can do this by adding several blank lines at the end of the document.

Thank you very much
I think I will wait for the next update

From what I see, you did not get the error by typing in the character, but when you tried to save your file as a Commentary file.

Did you change the Mark character in Settings?  If so, why?

Exactely sir, it’s when I save it that I get the error.
If i change the character in English, it works fine.
I changed the marker because I thought this could have been the problem as it says in the guide pdf.
I believe this didn’t happen with the older version-at least with the one that I used a couple of years ago.

Sir, I typed in just one Korean letter. and this is the error message I get.

Thank you for your attention

FYI, The reason there is '$' on the screenshot is because I tried using it as the marker instead '%'.

I get the same error with '%'.

tooltip tool 2017 1224 doesn't recognize Korean characters

I assume

Because it makes an error even with a single Korean character in the field

Could I get an old version of this great utility?
