#22399 Word 2010 Search/Replace Question

Posted by Kris Hendricks on 06 October 2014 - 12:44 AM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

Thanks for the reply! I wasn't able to get your instructions to work, but it did give me a clue on how to do it in Word. For future reference, this is how I did it:

In the Find/Replace dialog box under Find, type <*>, select "Use wildcards", click on the Format button and select Font, then Italic and click OK.

Under Replace, type [^&] click on Format button, Font and Regular, then OK.

Then click on Replace all. This will put brackets around each italicized word and change the font from italic to regular, without harming the text.

One problem remains; there are places where several words in a row were italicized and we now have separate brackets around each word such as: "[which] [they] [will]"

Under Find, type ] [

Under Replace, hit the Space bar once. Then click Replace all once again.

This will remove the interior brackets and put a space there, so using the above example, you end up with "[which they will]" which is the correct format.

I did almost 20,000 replacements in a matter of seconds once I figured out these commands!

#22389 Word 2010 Search/Replace Question

Posted by Kris Hendricks on 05 October 2014 - 01:43 AM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

Hi all,

I have a bible in RTF format that I am editing using Word 2010. I would like to change all italicized words to being bracketed instead. Is it possible to do that using the Search/Replace function in Word? If so, please give me an idea of how it might be done. Thank you...

#20250 ESV module location

Posted by Kris Hendricks on 28 January 2014 - 03:32 AM in e-Sword Tools & Utilities

Yes, that is where the .bblx files are normally located, but in this case I can't find the ESV file there. I don't know if it is renamed or put in another directory. I'm aware of copyright restrictions. Any changes made would be for my own personal use and would not be distributed to others.

EDIT: I found what I was looking for under the \VirtualStore directory.

Hi all, I have the ESV bible module installed in e-sword. I want to edit it using the ToolTip tool, but I can't find the .bblx file for the ESV module. Does anyone know where the file is located?

#19381 Find & Replace problem Word 2010

Posted by Kris Hendricks on 13 November 2013 - 06:10 PM in Tips for Module Creation

The fix is to select the "Match Case" box. I thought it only applied to the Find entry, but it applies to the Replace as well. Thanks for the help!

#19366 Find & Replace problem Word 2010

Hi,

I'm editing a bible text using MS Word 2010. I want to use Find and Replace to insert "the LORD" in numerous places. Word insists on capitalizing "the" every time, so I get "The LORD" instead. I turned off Auto-Correct and Grammar Check with no effect. How can I fix this?

#19239 Macro for font color changes

Posted by Kris Hendricks on 31 October 2013 - 05:04 PM in e-Sword Modules / Resources

I have a bible module that has italicized words to represent words added by the translator. I would like to change the color of these italicized words to make them stand out better. I have the ToolTip NT program already installed. I presume I need a Macro to do the thousands of changes, does anyone know how to do this?
