Originally published in three volumes from 1870 to 1884, Joseph Seiss' lectures on the Apocalypse were among the first popular works based upon the futurist interpretation of Revelation. Considered by modern evangelical scholars to be among the most influential, the collected lectures have been called "a monumental work," "thoroughly scholarly and spiritual," and "the highest type of scholarship." For Bible students, teachers, and Christians of all types, this is the work to turn to for understandable, in-depth explanations of the most intriguing book of the Bible. American Lutheran pastor Joseph August Seiss (1823-1904) was born in Maryland and served congregations in Virginia, Maryland, and Pennsylvania. In addition to his translations of hymns from the original German, he also authored numerous books, including The Gospel in the Stars and The Great Pyramid: A Miracle in Stone.

This book is the clearest exposition I have read on the book of Revelation, with every chapter and verse explained. The author is committed to a conscientious, accurate understanding of this amazing and important book. His approach is reverent, logical, thorough and scholarly. He doesn't get sidetracked into unimportant speculation. I highly recommend this book for anyone who wants to understand the book of Revelation.

Taking the literal approach brings the Revelation alive and better viewed in light of the rest of scripture. I like the comment "this is the revelation of Jesus the Christ not world events". The book keeps taking in to account the plan of God for his people. We are keep aware of the fact that world events change but the word of God and his plan are forever. This view keeps you focused as you read the Apocalypse. Different views are spoken to in this book, and they are always rejected based on scripture not opinion. Seiss is honest enough to speak about his lack of understanding when necessary. Very humble, and open to the will of God in his writing. A MUST reading and study for all who are interested in this topic.

Some greek words have a block instead of a character and I have asked for help. I will upload an update when I figure out a way to solve this problem.
I owe a debt of gratitude to Josh. The greek problems have been fixed.

Didn't find the commentary interesting however fully agree with the commentary's stance of the Lord returning to reign on Earth. The piece I found worthwhile was confirmation that the Book of Revelation was received and written by the Lord's disciple, John and that all the early church fathers held to this truth.
