e-Sword User's Guide version 10.4 at http://www.biblesupp...revision-8114/
Please arrange for this access to the e-Sword User's Guide to be provided with an entry linked in the "Tutorials" section, to be a further option there. Because, as at December 2020 there is only an entry in Tutorials, to the e-Sword User's Guide, version 10.2.1 at e-Sword User's Guide [Updated for e-Sword 10.2.1] - Tutorials - Bible Support = http://www.biblesupp...r-e-sword-1021/
The e-Sword User's Guide version 10.4 is the latest written by Josh Bond, which is accessible from inside e-Sword by tapping the "F1" function key. If you use a laptop, you may need to use the "Fn" and the "F1" keys.
The author forgot to update the cover picture shown on screen e-Sword: Free Bible Study for the PC (e-sword.net) = https://e-sword.net/index.html to display the cover of version "10.4" instead of the cover of version "10.2.1".
Hi Josh,
Considering that the last time the User Guide has been updated was approximately 6 years ago, there have been a number of changes made in e-Sword in that time.
From the top of my head changes made in e-Sword are:
- the Font Dialog
- the Resource Options Dialog
- Display Settings Dialog.
- App Theme Setting needs to be added.
Those are the ones I can only think of.
So, taking these things into consideration, I was wondering if or when a revised edition of the e-Sword User Guide will be coming out.
Blessings,
Hi APSit190, I suggest that we compile details of the changes which we have discovered, for the e-Sword User's Guide, and forward these to Rick Meyers, who could check this with the changes he has already planned, and those which he has already programmed and has implemented in the latest version for the Microsoft devices, and for the Apple devices, and then Rick Meyers could forward necessary requested updated and changes directly to Josh Bond, who is probably busy with completing advanced theological studies for his professor at present. For the Apple Mac on e-Sword X (version 7.5 copyright 2021 with new icon, new changes are, for example: New Analyze Verses feature. Determine word use counts for any range of Scripture, and visualize it for easy identification of the themes. Bible searches can now use Regular Expressions! Just wrap the expression in the REGEX() command, for example:
REGEX(\b[Aa]fter\W+(?:\w+\W+){1,6}days\ Bible searches can now be diacritic insensitive; thus, searching a Spanish Bible for Jesus will find verses with either Jesus or Jesús. Also, searching a Greek Bible for Κυριος will find verses with either Κυριος, Κύριος, or Κύριός. [As you may remember, the old manuscripts did not have all these diacritical characters]. Design updates for Big Sur and a new icon. Native support for Apple Silicon Macs.) Microsoft has updated both Edge and Internet Explorer browsers so they both can view the new Spanish alphabet characters with diacritics correctly. I'm sending suggestions direct via BIBLESUPPORT.COM email to Josh Bond, as I discover areas of the e-Sword User's Guide which need updates. This would save Josh Bond time to investigate all the things which the other e-Sword users have discovered, and have mentioned in various reports on the BIBLESUPPORT.COM blogs, and comments. Thanks.
Hi Josh Bond, I am having the hardest time trying to download the Cepher. I am unable to get help with this download. I have the hardcopy, and the app on my phone. I have made every attempt to download this with the module installer on my laptop. I have been unsuccessful. Please help. I am sure updates have occurred since you first shared. Thanks for the help. Shalom.
Shalom.
1) The Module Installer which is provided from BibleSupport.com has been designed to work on the PC which is running the Microsoft Operating System. This is for a PC computer, and is not designed for the Apple Mac, nor for the iPad, nor for the iPhone.
2) You say that you have the hardcopy of the Eth Cepher Bible. That will be a paper copy.
3) You say that you have "the app on my phone". So I assume you were successful to load the Eth Cepher, onto your iPhone, from somewhere.
4) You say that for the laptop you have been unsuccessful to download this.
Let me assume that your laptop is running Microsoft, because you did not say. The following instructions will apply for versions of e-Sword from version 10, 11, 12, 13, and later. First check that you have run Settings, Update Windows. And have closed all unnecessary files which you are writing on. Then for the browser, also check that that is up-to-date, using the option from top right corner, and Help, and About, and Update.
5) Now there are TWO different versions of the Cepher Bible available for you. One you can download as follows:
Open your e-Sword, click on Download, click on Bibles, click on English, click on Free, browse down the Titles until you see "Eth Cepher", then move your pointer over the name in the "Title" column, and you will see the pop-over as your pointer is hovered over the entry, which instructs you as follows: "Click to download".
Now, please be prepared to follow instructions, and do just what the programmer requests you to do, and tap the left-click , so that you will left-click while your pointer is on that Eth Cepher Bible entry.
6) Rick Meyers has recently updated e-Sword so that ONLY ONE ENTRY WILL DOWNLOAD AT A TIME.
With e-Sword running, when you click the Download option, you do need internet access. The entry which you are interested in, will appear below the list of Bibles, and should begin to download. If not, look up on the screen, to the "Download" tab, and click on the Start option. When the download is in progress, you will have access to "STOP" the download, from this "Download" tab, and also the option to continue the download, by again selecting the "Download, Start" option. You could force an abort, if you use the tab to "File, Exit", if that is really necessary. Otherwise allow the file to download completely. e-Sword will be able to find that file which was downloaded from e-Sword resources.
7) Rick Meyers has arranged that the file will download directly into the folder where the e-Sword Resource Location has been setup. To see where you set that up, Left-click on e-Sword option "Options", then in the dialogue box move the pointer down to the "Resource Settings..." entry, and hover the pointer there so that the entry is highlighted, and while it is high-lighted, left-click to select that option. Now in the Resource Options pop-up. Move to the "Bibles" tab. Here you will see the names of the Bibles so far loaded for you. Look down to the two window boxes near the bottom of that page. There you will see "Resources Location", and "User Files Location". The Resources Location typically has the address C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword\ and this is the place where the e-Sword files are all put together on your laptop.
These files are read though the various windows of e-Sword. The Bibles are read through the "Bible" Maximized windows (Ctrl+F2). The User Files Location will be where you put the files which you download for yourself, and which you want to read through the Editor options. These will probably be in C:\Users\user\Documents\e-Sword folder. The user option may be different, if the PC has another name to your personal Documents.
8) In the "Options", "Resource Settings...", on the "Bibles" option, please read the screen from the top line, from left to right, and each line, sequentially. When you look there, you should see the Eth Cepher Bible is already listed - if you were following my points (5) and (6) and (7) mentioned here. You can now move your pointer over the entry for Eth Cepher, and notice that this is identified as "Cepher [cepher.bblx]". You have the option to Select All, which you can left-click so that the selection has a tick in the box. You will notice that at the bottom you have an option to display tabs in a single row, [if that option is ticked], or otherwise, if that option is not selected, then all the tabs will display the Bibles in the order of the alpha-numeric file names which were given to the files when they were placed into the c:\program files (x86)\e-sword folder.
9) Now select the OK button, and move the pointer over that "OK" button, and left-click.
10) Select the e-Sword Bible tab (with the letter B on the tab). The Bible Maximized (Ctrl+F2) option is where you now want to go. You will see the various tabs for the different Bibles which have been selected. Move the pointer over the tab with the name "Cepher", and while hovering there, notice the name is "Eth Cepher", which is the name of the Bible. Select that entry with the left-click while the pointer is over that tab. The text of whichever verse is current, will be displayed. Click on the option located on the e-Sword screen at the left of the the row just under the title bar. Click on the option "Bible". Then a dialogue box will pop-up. Browse your pointer down in the dialogue list, to the entry at the very bottom, with the word "Information". Move the pointer over the Information option, and this will become highlighted. Select this with the left-click. Read the "Cepher Information" page. You will see the following information:
Eth Cepher
14) When you download BIBLESUPPORT.COM application called Module Installer, ModuleInstallerSetup06.exe that will need to be run after it is downloaded. It has been designed for the Microsoft Operating System. Sorry, I do not know where the Apple files are stored, or their file structure, on the MAC or on the iPhone or on the iPad.
After you have downloaded that, then you have to:
(1) Select ModuleInstallerSetup06.exe, and allow your PC to run it, and allow it to install itself, in its own folder, just for itself, as C:\Program Files\e-Sword Module Installer\moduleinstaller.exe
(2) Then you need to use File Explorer and browse to that folder and select that file, to run it.
What ModuleInstaller.exe will do is that it will make a list in your Operating system, to link all e-Sword-type module filetypes (the last four letters after the point in the filename), so that if you were to click on any of the series of e-Sword module filetypes, in future, that they will each be associated with the e-Sword module installer from Bible Support which is in the following location: C:\Program Files\e-Sword Module Installer\moduleinstaller.exe
In future, when you select any one of these modules which you have downloaded and unzipped, when you tap on that filename, it will then call up C:\Program Files\e-Sword Module Installer\ModuleInstaller.exe and then that Module Installer will provide you with help so that you can then instruct the Module Installer to copy that file to the required e-Sword folder, from where you want the e-Sword application to find these files.
With e-Sword running, use the Help option "F1" function key to call up the e-Sword User's Guide, in PDF format. In this document you will find further details about how to use e-Sword. Please read pages 1,2,3,20,36-44. The Find option, as usual in PDF files, is obtained with Ctrl+F.
When I look in my PC, which is running Windows 11, in the Settings, Apps > Default apps > Choose defaults by filetype. I find that the following filetypes have been linked to call up ModuleInstaller.exe .bbli .bblx .brpi .brpx .cmti .cmtx .dcti .dctx .devi .devx .hari .harx .jnli .jnlx .lexi .lexx .lsti .lstx .mapi .mapx .memi .memx .noti .notx .ovlx .refi .refx .topi .topx
Queen_AdiYah, I hope these notes will be of an assistance to answer your query.
