As at the last update, 2014-04-05, there are two download file options. THIS IS FOR e-SWORD FOR WINDOWS. DO NOT TRY TO LOAD THIS ON e-Sword x for Mac, or e-Sword HD for the iPad, or e-Sword LT for the iPhone, or e-Sword for Android. The files were not designed for those versions of e-Sword, and will not be processed by those devices.
Download options [1] Afrikaans.exe 4,2 MB. Select the file after download and let it run. This is an installing wizard to load the file "aov.bblx" modified 2014-04-04 into C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword where e-Sword Resources Location files are stored. This is designed for e-Sword for Windows. The TAB name is "AOV Afrikaans Ou Vertaling". The "Bible Information" provides the following information: "Afrikaans Ou Vertaling - 1953 Afrikaans Ou Vertaling (Old Translation). Copyright © 1953 Bible Society of South Africa. This copyright Bible has kindly been made available by the Bible Society of South Africa, strictly for non-commercial use with e-Sword. Download option [2] Afrikkans.zip 4.11MB This is a zipped folder, containing aov.bblx compressed 17%. Compressed file size 4210 KB. Uncompressed size 5040 KB. Date modified 2014-04-04. This would need to be uncompressed, and then copied to the e-Sword Resource Location folder, C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword where it will be loaded by e-Sword when that restarts. The TAB name is "AOV Afrikaans Ou Vertaling". The same information as in option [1].
Only load the version of file, that you want to load. The contents of both options are the same.
HISTORY OF CHANGES IN e-Sword since these modules were made.
July 2016 e-Sword version 11.0 was released. New features included all new HTML-based resources, including a new Lexicon module type. There is a new Pericope feature which places section headings throughout the Bible. Most of the resources have been updated to this new format, so you may want to download the updated versions of these modules, especially the non-English Bibles as they now contain the actual Unicode characters which makes for better search results. The new module format has also introduced a new Lexicon module type.
September 2017 Inside e-Sword an official download option was provided by Rick Meyers, the developer of e-Sword, as at 2017-09-18. On the option "Download", "Bibles", "Afrikaans", "Free" provision was made for the download of the Afrikaans OV, Afrikaans Ou Vertaling, Copyright © 1933, 1953 by Bible Society of South Africa. All rights reserved. Used with permission.
I enquired from Rick Meyers, the designer of e-Sword, whether this official Download option is available for all varieties of e-Sword. Rick Meyers reply, 2022-08-17, was: "You can easily go into the Download and see for yourself if the Afrikaans Ou Vertaling is available. The Ou Vertaling is public domain, not copyrighted by any Bible society. All of the apps have the same downloadable resources, except for the maps which are a PC-only resource."
