Thanks for posting this. Is this a dictionary or commentary on the Bible, please? Does it explore Christian teachings or the ideas of interfaith movements? Thanks for any updates on this. It's just a real chore to install these modules and to then have to delete them afterwards if they don't have that much to do with Bible teachings. Thanks for any input.
Who is F F Bruce?
Frederick Fyvie Bruce (1910 - 1990), also known as F. F. Bruce, was Rylands Professor of Biblical Criticism and Exegesis at the University of Manchester. He was born in Elgin, Morayshire and was educated at the University of Aberdeen, Cambridge University and the University of Vienna.
Are the New Testament documents reliable?
One of evangelicalism's most trusted scholars, F. F. Bruce clearly presents the evidence for the historical trustworthiness of the Christian Scriptures. This modern classic in the field of New Testament studies offers a compelling defense of biblical truth. Bruce is convinced of the historicity (historical authenticity) of Jesus Christ. The good news of Jesus is “intimately bound up with the historical order, for it tells how for the world’s redemption God entered history, the eternal came into time.”
F.F. Bruce writes as a historian, not as a theologian, and this book addresses the reliability of the New Testament, not its authority. Drawing on evidence from the documents themselves, as well as from sources outside the New Testament, Bruce demonstrates that the New Testament documents are reliable. In concise, clearly written chapters, Bruce explores the canon and dating of the New Testament, the nature of the Gospels (including a look at miracles), the life and writings of Paul, and archaeological and literary sources of the New Testament period.
While the new testament documents are constantly and increasingly being attacked in the eyes of the public it is imperative that christians come to a solid belief and understanding that the scriptures were written during the 1st century by men inspired by the holy spirit and have come to us uncorrupted so that we can know and follow the truth.
