Hi Stephen

Dropped this file into the doc dir with my other editors but "no joy" it does not show up in Esword.  Am i missing something here?

Hi Dale,

The file name will show up in the dropdown combobox at the bottom of the Study Note editor in the same way Topic Note files are seen in the bottom of that editor. Another thing too, is that this file actually should be in the folder where you keep all e-Sword resources, or where you have configured e-Sword to find your Study Note files.

Also please note in case you missed it.

This file (resource) is for the user to fill up and place in his/her own study notes, and one which reflects by the title, a Wide Margin study Bible. I trust this will come into great use by you, and that you will enjoy using it to the max.

So, where did you put file? Is it in Program Files (x86)\e-Sword (64 bit Windows), or just Program Files\e-Sword? You have it on your PC, and you downloaded it somewhere.

Also try this... Press Ctrl key and right click your mouse button on the Topic Note Editors page, and then click Open in the context menu. This will bring up your File Open dialog wherever you have your default folder of all your e-Sword resources (which is normally is in your Program Files (x86)\e-Sword folder). Then scroll down to the Wide Margin (general) Notes.notx file and double click on it to open it up in e-Sword. Then you should see the filename appear down the bottom of the Study Note Editor in a Dropdown Combo Box.

Now, this also is important. This file is only for e-Sword for Windows. It is not for e-Sword for Mac and iOS devices.

In essence there is no difference. All I've done is simply created one which has a filename which describes actually what it is and what its for. Calling it the "Wide Margin (general) Notes" is, as I said,

...because it reminds of me of the Wide Margin Bibles that were once available. These Bibles were also available as loose leaf Bibles where one could also insert blank sheets of note paper. And in some respects e-Sword seems to reflect this concept.

And if you ever used an an actual Wide Margin Loose Leaf Reference Bible, in where you could write hand written notes, you will understand where I am coming from.

Having said that, there is nothing to stop you from continuing using e-Sword's default Study.notx file if that is what you wish to do. All this one does is gives you an alternative to the default one, and basically that is what its really all about.

Here is a thought I just thought about just prior to posting this reply. In books and stationary shops there are a huge range of note book/pads one can buy. They come in all different shapes, sizes and designs. Some have pretty flowers on them; others have different color pages/covers on them; while others have pretty pictures on them, and there are those who have photos on them. Yet they all serve the same function, and they all do the same thing. Consider this file as one of those other kinds note books/pads, instead of the normal default one that you always used.
