Substantial Update:

Open Greek New Testament Project have been substantially updated since my last release of e-Sword modules.

Older versions will no longer be supported.

To avoid confusion, new version is uploaded at:

(This page will no longer be maintained.)

What's New in Version 2.8 (See full changelog)

  • 2.8 - updated "OGNTii.bbli"; revised 322 glosses
  • 2.7 - updated "OGNTii.bbli"; added newly developed OpenGNTGloss (context sensitive) + Indicator (a red flag in superscript) for main clause division according to Levinsohn's GNT discourse features
  • 2.6 - added OGNTd.bbli - Open Greek New Testament (w/ inline commentary of Levinsohn's GNTDF + Levinsohn's clause division + textual variants)
  • 2.5 - added a commentary file on Levinsohn's Greek New Testament Discourse Features
  • 2.4 - updated file "OGNT+.lexi, fixed entry G5484
  • 2.3 updated OGNT-NET.bbli; annotations aligned with GNT_annotation_v1.0, newly updated by McMaster Divinity College
  • 2.2 added OGNTi+ - Traditional Interlinear, works only in Mac / Apple Devices.
  • 2.1 added OGNTk.bbli - Formatted in Koine Greek; created for advanced users
  • 2.0 added rmac.dcti - enhanced version of RMAC dictionary for description on morphological codes. Please note that it will replace official e-Sword rmac.dcti, which has only 1100 entries. Eliran Wong fixed wrong entries found in the original one, reformatted and added an extra of 289 entries in this enhanced version.
  • 1.9 align book abbreviations in OGNT+.lexi with e-Sword abbreviations so that bible reference works properly
  • 1.8 Credits information added
  • 1.7 added OGNT-NET.bbli - Open Greek New Testament + OpenText Linguistic Annotation + Clause boundaries (blue brackets in superscript) + Phrase boundaries (red brackets in superscript) + The NET Bible® verse text (no Notes) - 2nd Edition; New Testament"

  • 1.5 added OGNTii+.bbli - Open Greek New Testament (Inline Interlinear Tyndale House's glosses w/ variants + Tyndale House's extended Strong's numbers + James Tauber's morphology)
  • 1.4 OGNT+.lexi added
  • 1.3 correct OGNT+.bbli; added Strong's number support in table "Details"
  • 1.2 correct OGNT+.bbli, fixed an issue on accents so that OGNT+ can work properly with OGNT.dcti; added separator between Strong's numbers and morphology
  • 1.1 correct OGNTv.bbli, added 5 missing variants
  • 1.0 correct accents to make dictionary working in e-Sword X

Remarks: OGNTk.bbli is created for reading with KoineGreek.ttf. Download file "KoineGreek.ttf.zip" here, unzip and install for proper reading of OGNTk.bbli

Use Tahoma version 7.00 as "Default Font" instead of Verdana.
click options and Font and select Tahoma in e-Sword 11.

By the way there as 2 accented versions: πνεύματι and πνεύματί

The TR and Byz and OC sources has 123 matches while WH and NA having 91 matches.
The reason are textual variants.

I can read the notes with the variants with e-Sword HD but not with e-Sword 11.
I hope that Rick can fix it in the next version of e-Sword.

Katoog,  Thanks so much for help and checking the issue.  Blessings, Eliran

version 2.2 - added OGNTi+.bbli - Open Greek New Testament (Traditional Interlinear); 7-Layer vertical interlinear (Manuscript Word, Transliteration, Modern Greek Pronunciation, Lexeme, Extended Strong's numbers, RMAC morphological code, English gloss).  This file is big.  It may take time for old iPhone / iPad to load the data.

Remarks: OGNTi+ is displayed properly only in Mac or Apple devices.  It is known that PC version of e-Sword is yet to support proper display of this module.

version 2.3 -

  • 2.3 updated OGNT-NET.bbli; annotations aligned with GNT_annotation_v1.0, newly updated by McMaster Divinity College (It had just been released 14 hours ago.)

version 2.4 - updated file "OGNT+.lexi, fixed entry G5484, read https://github.com/t...-Data/issues/18 regarding previous issue

Thanks for all your hard work on this. What a blessing for us! Question: is there a explanation of the abbreviations used in the OGNT.dcti+. ?? For example in G1053 we have: “Roman Province which included this region (DB, ii, 85ff.): Refs [1Co 16:1, Gal 1:2, 2Ti 4:10] (T, Tr., mg., Γαλλίαν), 1Pe 1:1. † @AS_Occurs=In NT x1 (AS)” Quite confusing without a key....

In OGNT+.dcti, there are two parts for each entry.  The upper one is based on "TBESG - Tyndale Brief lexicon of Extended Strongs for Greek" available at https://github.com/t...STEPBible-Data.  The bottom part is worked out by me according to morphological information.  The text you highlighted above is part of the content of TBESG.

Unfortunately, the source holder of TBESG, Tyndale House Cambridge UK, does not provide a full of abbreviations, which you are asking.  I may ask David Instone-Brewer, the person who released TBESG, and see if he will provide a list or not.

Thank you again. The modules are fantastic. Blessings......

David Instone-Brewer had just replied about the abbreviations. (I deeply appreciate the work of this great scholar. Without his work on TANTT, the project of OpenGNT is a kind of impossible task for me.) Please read his reply below:

The "(AS") indicates this entry is from Abbott Smith. I'm afraid he'll have to look there.
