Hi Ron,
I believe that God is sovereign in His universe also. But I also believe that in his sovereignty, He has given all men the free will to receive or deny his Son. Otherwise, you will be forced to believe that God deliberately created Adam and Eve with the expressed purpose to fail and sin, thus thrusting all mankind into sin and punishing them for doing what He decreed in His will. That is not the God I see in the Bible!! There is way too much Scripture that teaches otherwise. Also, no matter what you want to call it: Calvinism, 5 point Calvinism, 4 point Calvinism, Supralapsarianism, Intralapsarianism, Sublapsarianism, or whatever, it all comes from the belief that God has predestinated who will be saved and who will not. I hope that "The Spurious Tulip" can convince you that God's predestination is based on His foreknowledge. Please read the paper again with an open mind and ask God to show you the truth. If after that you can still say that you are Calvinistic in your soteriology, then OK, that is your choice, and we can still be brothers in Christ.

In His Name,

TC

Damnable heresy.

I freely acknowledge my doctrine to be; That Adam fell, not only by the permission of God, but by His very secret counsel and decree; and that Adam drew his posterity with Himself; by the fall, into eternal destruction. God not only foresaw the fall of the first man, and in him the ruin of his posterity; but also at God’s own pleasure and " arranged it ". ( from institutes of the christian religion Book lll, Chapter 23, Paragraph 7)

"The devil and the whole train of the ungodly, are in all directions, held in by the hand of God as with a bridle, so that they can neither conceive any mischief, nor plan what they have conceived, nor how much soever they may have planned, move a single finger to perpetrate, unless as so far he permits, nay, unless so far as he commands; that they are not only bound by his fetters but are even forced to do him service,-- when the godly think of all these things they have ample sources of consolation." Institutes of the Christian Religion- John Calvin, Book I, Chapter 17, Paragraph 11

The download options for The Spurious Tulip v 1.1 after the Last update, Jan 13, 2022, provide: (a) The Spurious Tulip v 1.1.topx; (B) The Spurious Tulip.exe; © the_spurious_tulip_v_11.refi

The *.exe selection provides a wizard to help you to install a *.topx version of the file on a computer running e-Sword on a Microsoft Windows PC. The default is to C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword folder. This is where the e-Sword "Resource Location" files are installed. If installed there, then read the document through the Reference Library window option. If you want to read the document with the Topic Editor option, browse to select the drive and path to the parent folder in which you have ...\e-Sword as a folder for your personal e-Sword documents. Check very carefully that you have the correct Drive and folder selected. These are as set up in the e-Sword "Options > Resource Settings" as shown in the folder in the "User Files Location" window.

The *.topx file. After download, move this to the relevant folder. If you have downloaded the Biblesupport.com version of ModuleInstaller.exe then when you click on the *.topx file, that app will help you to place the downloaded *.topx or *.refi files in the appropriate folder.

The *.refi option is suitable for all current latest versions of e-Sword, for windows, Mac, iPhone, iPad, Android, and Chrome devices. After download, move this to the required e-Sword folder. For loading instructions for touch screen devices, select https://www.e-sword.net select the LINKS option, select the appropriate version of e-Sword, then select the FAQ for loading instructions, and follow instructions to load the *refi module to your device.

On the Windows PC, the *.refi module displays the chapter in the index at the left of the Reference Library Window, and also displays the chapter name as a heading above the text of the page on the Windows PC. The *.topx module does not repeat the chapter name above the text on the page of the contents.

NOTE: If both the *.topx and *.refi are loaded to the "Resource Location", on a Windows PC, then the *.refi file will be loaded first, and that will take preference over the *.topx module. You will view the contents through the Reference Library window option.

Well... This is a nicely written paper. However, the example given in the last chapter (Bob and his pastor) is a clear example of a common twisting of historic Calvinism. Bob's situation is clearly "hyper-Calvinism", which is understandable because most that explore TULIP see the sovereignty of God focus of Calvinism and come to that conclusion. Hyper-Calvinism is as far from scripture as man's decision.
please consider the history teaching of Calvin which is clearly given in the short booklet below.

http://www.monergism...ws-p-16944.html

I am Calvinistic in my Soteriology and here's why, when I come to:

What then? Are we any better? Not at all! For we have previously charged that both Jews and Gentiles are all under sin, as it is written: There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, there is no one who seeks God. All have turned away, together they have become useless; there is no one who does good, there is not even one. Their throat is an open grave; they deceive with their tongues. Vipers' venom is under their lips. Their mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and wretchedness are in their paths, and the path of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that whatever the law says speaks to those who are subject to the law, so that every mouth may be shut and the whole world may become subject to God's judgment.
(Romans 3:9-19 HCSB I added the bold)

When I read the totality of scripture and understand that God is completely sovereign over his creation, I have no other option.

Ron,

I have no issue with Rom 3:3-19 in what it says, and moreover, and the other thing I have no issue with is God's sovereignty. These are indisputable factors. However, and actually I mean However!!! thingy, the issue I have is the Calvinistic understanding of Sovereignty. It kind of makes it look like an Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin type dictatorship - Seriously. Moreover, from your perspective of sovereignty, its like God saying, "Yep, that one I'll save, and that one over there I'll give the flick."

Now, having an impression like that, mate, it makes God look like a tyrant and not all that really just. Fair dinkum! So, with how you look at and understand what God's sovereignty looks like, it pretty much sucks. And the hole you dig for yourself is you leave the person wondering what the point of getting saved for is, especially when there is (going by your belief system) no possible guarantee of that actually ever happening. Its all up in the air. And just to hit it home, not even you can guarantee that you're saved, and that God just may even give you the flick. Why? Because He can; He's sovereign!!! See how perverse your argument really gets.
