Resourcer "Installation"

Introduction
e-Sword Resourcer is a freeware "resource manager" or "library manager" for e-Sword modules. Resourcer can display information about various e-Sword modules, both as individual modules and as entire folders of modules, and can export such information to text files (either as CSV files for spreadsheet program imports, or as plain text files), or to the Clipboard, or to a printer.
In addition, e-Sword Resourcer provides for setting up e-Sword "Workspaces", i.e., limited subsets of e-Sword Bible, commentary, and dictionary modules, that allow displaying just certain user-defined groups of modules in e-Sword, without having to constantly search through a large number of e-Sword tabs for a user's many e-Sword modules, just to find only certain relevant ones of interest at that time.
To use e-Sword Resourcer, no "installation" per se is required. The program itself consists of one executable file ("Resourcer.exe"), which (after unzipping) can be run from almost anywhere, although it is not recommended that it be run from one of the more "protected" or "system" locations (such as from within the "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" folders). Resourcer should run on any PC using Win XP, Win Vista, Win 7, or Win 8.n.
[e-Sword "techies" might be interested to know that Resourcer is written in C++, and does not require any dependencies on any ".NET frameworks", or on any SQLite DLL (the relevant SQLite code is compiled and linked statically into Resourcer.exe).]
Note: V.1 and V.2 of e-Sword Resourcer were for use with e-Sword V.8 or earlier (which used Access DB modules), while V.3 of e-Sword Resourcer is for use with e-Sword V.9 or later (using SQLite DB modules).

The Resourcer Window
The largest part of the Resourcer window interface is the Files List, which shows the contents of whatever part of the Navigation Tree was selected. There are four View Modes to the Files List, of which the Details view (which is shown in the image above, and which is the default view) provides the most information, arranged in resizable, movable, and sortable columns. Like Windows Explorer, other View Modes (Large Icons, Small Icons, and List) are also available, however, and while they do show only the file names of the objects contained in them, they do usually allow seeing larger numbers of files at once than does the Details view.
To the left of the Files List is the Navigation Tree, which has several tree nodes that can be selected. At the top there should be two nodes that can be selected to show the contents of the main e-Sword Resources folder (which is also where e-Sword's program files are located), or of the e-Sword User folder (where user-customized files are located). Below these two nodes will be one or more nodes (which can be expanded), that represent the physical drives recognized by Resourcer on the computer on which it resides. These Drive nodes are useful for navigating to any folders on the drive(s) where other e-Sword modules (such as backup files, perhaps) might be stored (although one could also use them to manually navigate to the nodes for the main e-Sword Resources folder or to the e-Sword User folder). Below the Drive node(s) are the seventeen nodes that are involved in setting up and displaying e-Sword Workspaces.
Immediately above the Navigation Tree and the Files List is a Toolbar, containing a row of buttons, arranged in groups, which carry out several Resourcer functions.
The first three buttons (to the left) on the Toolbar are the e-Sword Buttons, used to start e-Sword (if it's not already running), to stop e-Sword (if it is currently running), or to stop and then restart e-Sword. (These functions are most useful when working with Workspaces, since e-Sword will not show changes to a Workspace until it is started again after the changes have been made.) [These functions are also available in the File Menu, as well.]
The next four buttons on the Toolbar are the four View Mode Buttons, for the List view, the Details view, the Large Icons view, and the Small Icons view. One of these buttons will always display as being depressed, to show which View Mode is currently in effect. The user can, of course, press any of the other three buttons to show a different view, as desired. (Since the Details view is the default View Mode, the Details mode button will be depressed when Resourcer starts.) [The View Modes are also selectable in the View Menu, as well.]
To the right of the View Mode Buttons is a single button, the Refresh Files List Button (with an icon resembling the Details mode button with an exclamation mark superimposed over it). The Details mode icon is used to represent the default Files List mode (although this button does work in all four View Modes), and the exclamation mark is used to represent the function of the button, which is to manually refresh the Files List. [Admittedly, the icon on this button is probably intuitive only to me, but, holding the mouse over this button (or over any other button, as well as over any of the menu items on any opened menu) will cause Resourcer to display brief descriptions in the Status Bar at the bottom of the Resourcer window (e.g., "Refresh the module Files List") and in a popup Tooltip (e.g., "Refresh Files List").] [The Refresh Files List command is also available in the Workspace Menu and the View Menu, as well, and by pressing the F5 hotkey, too.] [The Status Bar will also display, near its right end, the number of files in the Files List (as well as the number of selected modules, if it is a Workspace that is being viewed).]
The longest group of buttons on the Toolbar are the Files List Filter Buttons, which allow the user to tailor which types of modules and other files will be shown in the Files List. Most of the buttons, such as "BBL" (for Bibles, *.BBLX files), "CMT" (for commentaries, *.CMTX files), or "DCT" (for dictionaries, *.DCTX files), can be selected (to allow specific types of modules to be shown or deselected, to prevent certain types from being shown). In this sense, each of these buttons activates or inactivates a specific Files List filter (as well as displaying whether each filter is active or not). Selecting the next-to-last button, labeled "ALL", will cause all of the filter buttons to its left to be selected (in order to show all types of e-Sword modules in the Files List), while selecting the last button, labeled "ONLY", will filter out all non-module files (including any e-Sword program files that are not actually module files). [Which modules are shown or hidden can also be chosen in the Modules Menu, too.]
The last button on the Toolbar, the Files Properties button will cause the File Properties for any specific file (selected in the Files List) to be displayed. [The Display File Properties command is also available in the File Menu and the View Menu, as well.]
There are other standard Windows items in the Resourcer window, too, such as several menus (File Menu, Workspace Menu, View Menu, Modules Menu, Export Menu, and Help Menu), a Title Bar (which will display the node selected in the Navigation Tree or the file selected in the Files List), and a Status Bar (already mentioned above). [The Status Bar can be toggled, as hidden or visible, using the Show Status Bar command in the View Menu.]

Navigation Tree
The Navigation Tree is located to the left of the larger Files List area in the Resourcer window. The Navigation Tree is used to select what is to be shown in the Files List. In its simplest form, it represents a vertical list of at least fourteen nodes that can be clicked on with the mouse, and each node will cause the Files List to display the files related to that node.
At the top of the Navigation Tree there will be two nodes that can be selected to show the contents of the two main e-Sword folders (i.e., directories).
The top node, the "e-Sword Resource Folder" node, will cause the Files List to display the contents of the main e-Sword Resources folder (which is also where e-Sword's program files are located by default). Typically this folder is located on the hard drive (in a default e-Sword installation) at "C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword\" or "C:\Program Files\e-Sword\" (depending on the Windows operating system that is being used), but the folder might be located elsewhere instead, especially if the user had opted to specify a location other than the default suggested by the e-Sword installation, or if the user had changed the e-Sword "Resources Location" from within e-Sword itself.
The second node, the "e-Sword User Files Folder" node, will cause the Files List to display the contents of the e-Sword User folder (where user-customized files are located). Typically this folder is located on the hard drive (in a default e-Sword installation) at "C:\Users\NameOfUser\Documents\e-Sword\" or "C:\Documents and Settings\NameOfUser\My Documents\e-Sword\" (depending on the Windows operating system that is being used) (and where "NameOfUser" is replaced with the login name of the user), but it may be located elsewhere, especially if the user had elected to change the "User Files Location" from within e-Sword itself.
Below these two nodes will be one or several Drive nodes, that represent the various physical drives recognized by Resourcer on the computer on which it resides. These drives will typically include at least a C: hard drive, but might include other physical hard drives, portable USB hard drives, USB memory sticks, and/or CD/DVD drives, etc. These Drive nodes (which can generally be expanded to show folder nodes) can be quite useful for navigating to any folders on any of the drive(s) where other e-Sword modules (such as backup files, perhaps) might be stored. (One could even use them to manually navigate to the nodes for the main e-Sword Resources folder or to the e-Sword User folder, but the top two nodes, "e-Sword Resources Folder" and "e-Sword User Files Folder", act as "shortcuts" to do this automatically for the user.)
Below the Drive node(s) are seventeen Workspace nodes that are involved in setting up and displaying e-Sword Workspaces. These Workspace nodes are different from the nodes above them in at least three ways:
1. Unlike each of the nodes above them, which can cause the Files List to show any or all e-Sword modules, or any other types of files in it, the Workspace nodes will allow only e-Sword Bibles, e-Sword commentaries, and e-Sword dictionaries (which are the three types of reference modules that appear on the tabs in the main e-Sword interface) to be displayed in the Files List.
2. Because of the above difference, selecting any of the Workspace nodes will inactivate (or "gray out") all the Files List Filter Buttons, but will show the "BBL", "CMT", "DCT", and "ONLY" buttons as having been depressed or selected, while all other Files List Filter Buttons will appear to be unselected.
3. The Files List that results from selecting any of the Workspace nodes will have checkboxes next to each of the file icons. These checkboxes are used to show which modules have been selected (checked) or deselected (unchecked), to be displayed ("active") or not displayed ("inactive") on the e-Sword Bible, commentary, and dictionary tabs.
Selecting the top Workspace node, labeled "<A> ALL e-Sword Modules", will cause the Files List to show all of the e-Sword Bibles, commentaries, and dictionaries in the e-Sword Resource Folder, and will show each of the checkboxes as being checked ("active"). This is, of course, the "default Workspace" (so to speak) that is in effect after e-Sword has just been installed, as well as after additional e-Sword Bible, commentary, and dictionary modules have been added, as long as the user, with or without using Resourcer, has not caused any modules to be hidden. [The "<A> ALL e-Sword Modules" checkboxes are visible but are read-only, since they are only for notification for this node.]
Selecting the second Workspace node, labeled "<C> Current e-S Settings", will cause the Files List to show all of the e-Sword Bibles, commentaries, and dictionaries in the e-Sword Resource Folder, but will show each of the checkboxes as being either checked ("active") or unchecked ("inactive"). This node is intended to display the current status of each of the individual e-Sword Bible, commentary, and dictionary modules. Of course, if no modules have been hidden (either by using Resourcer or by using e-Sword itself), then the Files List will present the exact same appearance as the "<A> ALL e-Sword Modules" does - i.e., all checkboxes will be checked. However, if any modules have been hidden (either by using Resourcer or by using e-Sword itself), then the Files List will show some checkboxes as being checked and some checkboxes as being unchecked. [The "<C> Current e-S Settings" checkboxes are visible but are read-only, since they are only for notification for this node.]
Unlike the above two "read-only" Workspace nodes, the rest of the Workspace nodes (labeled "<01> [...]", or "<02> [...]", etc. - initially labeled "<01> Workspace 01", or "<02> Workspace 02", etc.) will allow the user to manually select which modules are to be shown and which modules are to be hidden for each particular Workspace. Therefore, the checkboxes in the Files List for these fifteen nodes are not read-only, but may be checked, may be left unchecked (the default), or may be unchecked after having been previously checked. Furthermore, each of these fifteen Workspace nodes can (and probably should) be renamed by the user to something more descriptive than "Workspace 01", or "Workspace 02", etc. Finally, any one of these Workspace nodes could be then "activated", to make it the current configuration of visible and hidden e-Sword modules for the next time e-Sword is used.
Please see more about configuring, renaming, and activating Workspaces in the Workspaces section.

Files List
The Files List is located to the right of the Navigation Tree, and makes up the largest part of, the Resourcer window. The Files List shows the contents related to whatever node of the Navigation Tree was selected.
There are four View Modes to the Files List (similar to the four main View Modes in the Files List of Windows Explorer), as follows:
1. The Details View (which is the Resourcer default) shows the most information. There are columns for the file name for each file, the module type, the tab name (as displayed in e-Sword), the file size, the date and time the file was last modified, and the module description. All of these columns will generally be filled with information if the file in question is an e-Sword Bible, commentary, or dictionary. If the file is some other type of e-Sword module, then likely only the file name, the module type, the file size, and the date and time the file was last modified will be displayed. If the file is any other sort of file (including if it were one of the e-Sword program files), then only the file name, the file size, the date and time the file was last modified would likely be shown. To the left of each file name will be an icon, with the more colorful (and "visually descriptive") icons being found next to e-Sword modules, and with plain icons being found next to all other files. If it is a Workspace being displayed in the Files List, then there would be a checkbox shown just to the left of each file icon. [More about the Details View Mode and its columns will be mentioned further below.]
2. The List View shows just the file name and an icon for each file, with the Files Listed in vertical columns in alphabetical order (unless the order had already been changed when the Files List was in Details View). Like the Details View, checkboxes would be shown to the left of each icon if it is a Workspace being displayed. The List View lacks most of the information shown in Details View, but it does allow a larger number of files to be shown at one time.
3. Most like the List View is the Small Icons View, which shows just the file name and an icon for each file, with adjacent checkboxes for Workspaces. However, while the Small Icons View also uses vertical columns, the files are arranged alphabetically, horizontally in rows across the columns. Furthermore, there are some quirks with the Small Icons view -- due to inconsistencies in how the Small Icons View in the Windows ListView control (which is what Resourcer uses to create its Files List) handles longer file names, long file names will sometimes (but not always) spill across multiple columns, and sometimes the display can then appear rather "untidy".-- at other times the column widths will be automatically expanded in order to keep long file names from spilling across multiple columns. So, while the Small icons View is somewhat like the List View, it is perhaps less preferable to use.
4. The Large icons View arranges itself much like the Small Icons View, but more predictably. Long file names are merely truncated (which helps with arranging the rows of files), although the user can still see a long file name in its entirety in a Tooltip if the mouse is hovered over any long file name. As the name suggests, the icons are larger (twice as wide and twice as tall), but that means fewer files can fit in the Files List at any one time. The sort order is alphabetical from left to right, and (small) checkboxes appear next to each (large) icon if the Files List is displaying a Workspace.
The Files List View Mode can be changed by using one of the four View Mode Buttons, or by selecting one of the analogous menu items in the View Menu.
As already mentioned above, when in Details View, the Files List columns can be sorted. (The default sort order is for the "File Name" column to be alphabetized, A to Z.) In general, the first time any column header (i.e., the horizontal labeled bar above any column) is clicked, a logically ordered sort will be performed on that column, and then if that same column header is clicked again, an opposite sort will be performed, etc. The four text-based columns will be sorted first alphabetically (A to Z) and then reverse-alphabetically (Z to A), while the numeric-based columns will be sorted numerically (the File Size column first from largest to smallest, and then from smallest to largest; and the Last Modified column by date and time, first from newest to oldest, and then from oldest to newest). [If the sort order has been changed in Details View, the new order will be used for listing the files in List View.] The ability to sort the Files List columns is a Resourcer option, available from the "Allow Sorting by Column" item in the View Menu.
When in Details View, the Files List columns can be resized. If the user clicks with the mouse on the small gap between any two column headers and drags the gap sideways, the width of the column to the left of the gap can be made larger or smaller. (Even the last column on the right can be made larger by gripping and then dragging its right-hand header gap "off the Resourcer window" to its right.)
When in Details View, the Files List columns can be reordered. If the user clicks with the mouse on any column header and drags it sideways across any other column header, the column can be moved to the left or to the right (except for the first and last columns, of course, which can only be dragged in one direction). The ability to reorder the Files List columns is a Resourcer option, available from the "Allow Dragging Columns" item in the View Menu.
Regardless of which View Mode is in effect, the number of files in the Files List (as well as the number of checked or "active" modules, if it is a Workspace that is being viewed) will be shown near the right end of the Status bar.
There are other View Menu options that affect the Files List when in Details View:
"Show List Gridlines" will cause the Files List (when in Details View) to display gridlines around all its items and subitems. This can make following information across a row sometimes a bit easier, but it could also make the Files List look a bit more cluttered, so it can be turned "On" or "Off" by the user at will in the View Menu
"Display Long Label Tips" will cause the Files List (when in Details View) to aid the user with reading longer file names (especially with some of the usually longer-named Topical and Reference files): If a label in the Files List is partially hidden (i.e., if it is truncated because the text of the label is too long for the width of the column), the Files List can "unfold" the label when the user's mouse hovers over the label (after a slight pause of a second or so).
"Allow Full Row Selection" will "tell" the Files List (when in Details View) to allow the user to select an entire row by clicking anywhere along the row. (If this setting is turned "Off", then the file name itself must be selected by clicking directly on it, and then only the file name would be highlighted as having been selected in that row.)
There are also a couple of View Menu commands that involve the Files List, regardless of which View Mode is in effect:
Display File Properties will (not surprisingly) display (in a message box) the File Properties for any file selected in the Files List. This command is also available by using the File Properties Button
"Refresh Files List" (also available by using either the Refresh Files List Button or the F5 hotkey) will cause the Files List to be cleared and then repopulated with its proper contents once again. [Whatever Files List options were in effect just before the command is used should remain in effect, as should the column order (even if changed), but column sort order and column widths will be set back to the defaults.]

Toolbar
The e-Sword Buttons, the View Mode Buttons, the Refresh Files List Button, the Files List Filter Buttons, and the File Properties Button are all located on a Toolbar, which can be visible (the default) or can be hidden. [The visibility of the Toolbar is controlled by toggling the Show Toolbar command in the View Menu.]
The Toolbar can be dragged around, and can be docked adjacent to either the top edge (the default) or the bottom edge of the Resourcer window. [It can be docked vertically to the side edges, too, but, due to its length, some of the buttons might be hidden unless the Resourcer window is made very tall.]
The Toolbar can also be dragged away from any edge and left undocked, floating over the Resourcer window, or even floating over the Desktop outside of the Resourcer window.
In order to drag the Toolbar around, the mouse should be clicked and held down on any area of the Toolbar outside of the buttons, and then dragged to the desired position.
If the toolbar is docked somewhere away from its default position, or if it is undocked and left "floating", and then is hidden (toggled with the Show Toolbar command), it will appear in that same position when it is shown again.

View Mode Buttons
The four View Mode Buttons on the Toolbar are the for selecting which View Mode (the List view, the Details view, the Large Icons view, or the Small Icons view) will be used by the Files List to display files.. One of these buttons will always display as being depressed, to show which View Mode is currently in effect. The user can, of course, press any of the other three buttons to show a different view, as desired. (Since the Details view is the default View Mode, the Details mode button will always be depressed when Resourcer starts.) [The View Modes are also selectable in the View Menu, as well.]
Advantages and disadvantages for each of the View Modes include the following:
[Further information about the Details View Mode and its columns are discussed in the Files List section.]
Files List Filter Buttons
The longest group of buttons on the Toolbar are the Files List Filter Buttons, which allow the user to tailor which types of modules and other files will be shown in the Files List. [Which modules are shown or hidden can also be chosen in the Modules Menu, too.]
The Files List Filter Buttons will be active when the Navigation Tree is pointed to the "e-Sword Resource Folder" node, the "e-Sword User Files Folder" node, and the one or several Drive nodes, so that the user may utilize the buttons to determine which types of modules should be shown (or not shown) in the Files List. On the other hand, selecting any of the seventeen Workspace nodes will inactivate (or "gray out") all the Files List Filter Buttons, and, while the "BBL", "CMT", "DCT", and "ONLY" buttons will show as having been depressed or selected, all other Files List Filter Buttons will appear to be unselected -- this is because all Workspaces concentrate specifically on just which Bibles, commentaries, and dictionaries will appear on the e-Sword program's tabs.

File Menu
Display File Properties will cause the File Properties for any specific file (selected in the Files List) to be displayed. [The Display File Properties command is also available in the View Menu, in the Files List Context Menu, or by pressing the File Properties Button.]
The next three File Menu commands are useful when working with Workspaces, since e-Sword will not show changes to a Workspace until it is started again after the changes have been made.
Start e-Sword will start e-Sword (if it's not already running).
Stop e-Sword will stop e-Sword (if it is currently running).
Stop and Start e-Sword will stop e-Sword (if it is currently running) and then restart e-Sword.
[The above three e-Sword functions are also available by using the e-Sword Buttons, as well.]
The next two commands are involved with opening a user-preferred SQLite editor in order to edit a selected module.
Open SQLite Editor will open a user-preferred SQLite editor with the module currently selected (in the Files List) loaded in the editor. [If no editor has been yet configured by the user, this command will be inactive (i.e., "grayed out").]
Configure SQLite Editor will open a File Open dialog box, allowing the user to select the SQLite editor's executable file to be used by the above Open SQLite Editor command. [The user should make certain that the actual executable file (with the file extension of ".exe") is selected, and not a link or shortcut to the executable.]
Any SQLite editor can be specified as the preferred editor, but it must support a command line with a "%1 parameter" in it, so that the editor will be opened with the selected module already loaded in it, ready for editing. The good news is that most standard SQLite editors can accept a "%1 parameter", which makes this function quite convenient:
Testing has shown that "SQLite Administrator" V.0.8.3.2 (freeware) ( http://sqliteadmin.orbmu2k.de/ ), "SQLite Database Browser" V.3.3 (freeware) ( http://sqlitebrowser.org/ ), "SQLite Expert Personal" V.3.5.63 (freeware) ( http://www.sqliteexpert.com/ ), and "SQLite Spy" V.1.9.8 (freeware) ( http://www.yunqa.de/delphi/doku.php/products/sqlitespy/index ) all work well for this purpose - i.e., all of these can be opened by Resourcer, with the module selected in the Files List already loaded for editing.
[Unfortunately, "e-Sword Tab Renamer" V.1.4.1 (freeware) ( http://www.biblesupport.com/e-sword-downloads/file/7421-e-sword-tab-renamer/ ) does not seem to support a "%1 parameter", so that Resourcer can open the editor, but the user would then have to manually browse to the module from within "e-Sword Tab Renamer" in order to edit it.]
The next three functions are involved with printing the contents of the Files List, which will be done using the Details View Mode only.
Print Module List will print the contents of the Files List, similar to (but not quite identical to) how the Files List appears. [Note that the entire list will be printed, including any rows above or below what might currently be visible in the Files List.]
Print Preview will provide an approximation of how the Files List would appear if it were actually printed.
Print Setup will allow configuring the printer prior to any printing of the Files List.
Open Explorer Here will open Windows Explorer to Resourcer's current drive or folder location (i.e., if it is actually a drive or a folder location that is selected in the Navigation Tree -- note that this command is not available if, say, a Workspace is currently selected.). This command might be most useful for helping the user to use Explorer to copy, paste, rename, move, or delete (careful!) one or more modules at any particular folder location. [This command is also available in the Navigation Tree Context Menus for the drive and folder nodes.] The Stay on Top command (in the View Menu) may be used in conjunction with this command in order to view both an Explorer window and the Resourcer window at the same time and to be able to click on each of them without losing sight of the other window.
Activate ALL Modules will override whatever Workspace might be in effect at the time, making all e-Sword modules visible on e-Sword's tabs the next time e-Sword is started. [Note that either "<A> ALL e-Sword Modules", or "<C> Current e-S Settings", or any one of the fifteen numbered Workspace nodes (labeled "<01> [...]", or "<02> [...]", etc. - initially labeled "<01> Workspace 01", or "<02> Workspace 02", etc.) must be first selected in the Navigation Tree in order to apply the Activate ALL Modules command.]
Exit Resourcer will cause Resourcer to close.

View Menu
Refresh Files List will cause the Files List to be cleared and immediately repopulated with its contents.
Display File Properties will cause the File Properties for any specific file (selected in the Files List) to be displayed. [The Display File Properties command is also available by pressing the File Properties Button, as well.]
The following four menu commands can be used to change how the Files List displays files. (One of these four commands will have a checkmark next to it, indicating that it is the mode that is currently in effect.) [These four commands are also available from using the View Mode Buttons, and some of the advantages and disadvantages of each mode are discussed in the View Mode Buttons section.]
Use List View will change the Files List to display its contents using List View Mode.
Use Details View will change the Files List to display its contents using Details View Mode (the default).
Use Large Icons View will change the Files List to display its contents using Large Icons View Mode.
Use Small Icons View will change the Files List to display its contents using Small Icons View Mode.
The following five menu commands provide for options for how the Files List, when in Details View, displays its contents:
Show List Gridlines will cause the Files List to display gridlines around all its items and subitems. This can make following information across a row sometimes a bit easier, but it could also make the Files List look a bit more cluttered, so it can be turned "On" or "Off" by the user at will
Display Long Label Tips will cause the Files List to aid the user with reading longer file names (especially with some of the usually longer-named Topical and Reference files): If a label in the Files List is partially hidden (i.e., if it is truncated because the text of the label is too long for the width of the column), the Files List can "unfold" the label when the user's mouse hovers over the label (after a slight pause of a second or so).
Allow Sorting by Column will enable the user to sort any one of the columns. [If the sort order has been changed in Details View, the new order will be used for listing the files in List View.]
Allow Dragging Columns will enable the user to reorder the Files List columns. If the user clicks with the mouse on any column header and drags it sideways across any other column header, the column can be moved to the left or to the right (except for the first and last columns, of course, which can only be dragged in one direction).
Allow Full Row Selection will "tell" the Files List to allow the user to select an entire row by clicking anywhere along the row. (If this setting is turned "Off", then the file name itself must be selected by clicking directly on it, and then only the file name would be highlighted as having been selected in that row.)
The following two menu commands will toggle the presence of their specific window control. (A checkmark next to the command will indicate that it is toggled On, while the absence of the checkmark will indicate it is toggled Off.) Both controls are turned "On" by default.
Show the Toolbar will show (or hide) the Toolbar. [If the toolbar is docked somewhere away from its default position, or if it is undocked and "floating", and then is hidden, it will appear in that same position when it is shown again.]
Show the Status Bar will show (or hide) the Status Bar.
Stay on Top will cause Resourcer to stay on top of (i.e., in front of) other windows on the Desktop. This can be a useful command to employ at times, whenever the user might want to see both Resourcer and, say, an Explorer window (or the e-Sword window) at the same time, so that both Resourcer and the other window can be alternately clicked on without either window becoming lost from view. (Of course, the size of the Resourcer window should be adjusted to be small enough so as to not cover too much of the other window, which could also be maximized for more visibility.)

Modules Menu
Most of the items in this menu are used, just as the Files List Filter Buttons are, to control which e-Sword module types will appear in the Files List. For each of these menu items, a checkmark will be shown to the left of the item if that filter is toggled On, and the checkmark will be missing if it is toggled Off.
Bibles, Commentaries, Devotionals, etc. will each turn "On" or "Off" the inclusion of each type of module in the Files List.
All e-Sword Modules will cause all of the above items it to be selected, in order to display all types of e-Sword modules in the Files List.
Only e-Sword Modules will filter out all non-module files (including any e-Sword program files that are not actually module files).
The following two commands will directly affect the tabs in the e-Sword interface will be displayed if there are too many tabs to fit in one row:
Multi e-Sword Tab Rows will cause e-Sword to show tabs in multiple rows if necessary (i.e., if there are too many for one row).
Single e-Sword Tab Row will cause e-Sword to show tabs in a single row (with arrow buttons at the right end of the row, to scroll the tabs to the left or right).

Export Menu
The Export Menu provides commands that will allow the user to export (or copy) either individual file information or the entire contents of the Files List to text files or to the Clipboard, as well as commands that will allow the user to export (or back up) current Resourcer settings and Workspace information, to be able to import (or restore) that information into Resourcer at some future time.
The first three commands involve exporting the contents of the currently displayed Files List:
Export List to Tab-Delimited Text File will allow the user to specify a text file to which the contents of the Files List (in Details View) will be sent as tab-delimited values, which is a relatively universal format for importing tabular data (such as from the Files List) into a spreadsheet program (such as Excel).
Export List to Text File with Even Columns will allow the user to specify a text file to which the contents of the Files List (in Details View) will be sent in a format similar to the way the contents appear in the Files List.
Export (Copy) List to Clipboard will copy the contents of the Files List (in Details View) to the Windows Clipboard in a format similar to the way the contents appear in the Files List, allowing the user to paste the contents into a text editor or a word processor.
The next two commands involve exporting information about a selected file or module:
Export File Properties to Text File will allow the user to specify a text file to which the information on an individual file will be sent.
Export (Copy) File Properties to Clipboard will copy the information on an individual file to the Windows Clipboard, allowing the user to paste the information into a text editor or a word processor.
The last two commands may be used to export or back up current Resourcer settings and Workspaces to an XML file, which can be used to restore those settings and Workspaces at a later time to the same copy of Resourcer, and/or to import them into a different copy of Resourcer:
Export (Back Up) Resourcer Settings will allow the user to create an XML file, using Resourcer's settings and Workspace information located in the Windows Registry, that can be used to restore that information to Resourcer in the same account on the same PC at some time in the future, or can be used to import that information into another copy of Resourcer in a different account or on a different PC.
Import (Restore) Resourcer Settings will allow the user to open a previously backed up or exported XML file, created with Resourcer in one account on one PC, to be used to restore Resourcer's settings and Workspace information in the same account on the same PC, or to be used to import Resourcer's settings and Workspace into a different account or on a different PC. (This function requires that Resourcer be stopped and restarted to show any imported changes, which is handled automatically at the end of the function.)
An XML file is a text file with a format superficially similar to that of an HTML file, but is quite useful for storing hierarchical information. [Please note that, while such a file can be easily viewed in virtually any text editor or web browser, it should not actually be edited or modified in any way -- if it is changed incorrectly, it could become useless for importing or restoring purposes.]

Workspaces
Resourcer provides for setting up e-Sword "Workspaces", i.e., limited, user-defined subsets of e-Sword modules that allow for easier studying with just certain modules, without the user having to constantly search through a large number of e-Sword tabs (representing all of a user's many e-Sword modules), just to find only certain relevant ones of interest at the time.
A "Workspace" could be defined as a collection of e-Sword Bibles, commentaries, and dictionaries (e.g., "Greek Bibles", "Strong's Enabled Modules", "Literal Translations", "Messianic", "Universalist", "Calvinist", etc.) that belong together, to be displayed together, for studying the Bible for any one particular purpose.
Resourcer currently makes sixteen Workspaces available, one for "<A> ALL e-Sword Modules", and fifteen others, labeled initially (i.e., until renamed by the user) as "<01> Workspace 01", or "<02> Workspace 02", etc. These can all be found on the lower nodes of the Navigation Tree - just below the Drive node(s) - along with a "Workspace" node labeled "<C> Current e-S Settings".
Compared to the "e-Sword Resource Folder" and "e-Sword User Files Folder" nodes, and to the Drive node(s), the Workspace nodes can cause changes in what is visible in the Files List. First, while the Files List for the non-Workspace nodes can show all the types of e-Sword Resources (as well as all sorts of other files, including e-Sword program files), the Files List will display, for the Workspace nodes, only Bible, commentary, and dictionary modules. (It is the Bibles, commentaries, and dictionaries that appear on almost all of the module tabs in the e-Sword main window.)
Because of the emphasis on Bibles, commentaries, and dictionaries in the Workspaces, the Files List Filter Buttons will become inactive (i.e., "grayed out"), and the "BBL", "CMT", "DCT", and "ONLY" buttons will appear as selected (and the rest as unselected). At the same time, most of the menu items in the Modules Menu will be similarly inactivated, and the "Bibles", "Commentaries", "Dictionaries", and "Only e-Sword Modules" menu items will have checkmarks next to them.
The other main difference in the Files List when it is displaying the contents relevant to a Workspace node is the presence of checkboxes to the left of each file icon -- these are used to choose which Bible, commentary and dictionary modules are selected for display as "active" (or unselected as "inactive") in e-Sword for each Workspace node. The checkboxes will be "read-only" for the "<A> ALL e-Sword Modules" and "<C> Current e-S Settings" nodes, where the checkboxes are only for display, but they can be checked and unchecked at will by the user for the fifteen user-customizable Workspaces ("<01> Workspace 01", or "<02> Workspace 02", etc.).
As the user checks or unchecks the modules in a Workspace, the total number of files in the Files List, as well as the number of checked ("active") modules, will be shown near the right end of the Status bar. (As each module in a Workspace is checked, the count of "active" modules will increment, and. as each is unchecked, the count will decrement.)
For an example of how a Workspace can be set up and activated, let's assume that the user wants to set up and activate a Workspace primarily for "New Testament" (or "Christian Testament") modules. Basically, the user would likely perform three steps, as follows:
1. Possibly the first thing the user might want to do would be to name or rename the Workspace. Let's assume that the user wishes to rename "Workspace 01" to "New Testament". He/she could easily do so by right-clicking on the "<01> Workspace 01" node to open up the Navigation Tree Context Menu, and then selecting "Rename Workspace 01". Then a small "Rename Workspace 01" window would appear, and the user could then type "New Testament" (without the quotation marks) into its "Name for Workspace 01" field, and then click the "OK" button. At that point, the "Rename Workspace 01" window would disappear, and the "<01>" node in the Navigation Tree would then read as "<01> New Testament". (If the Cancel button in the "Rename Workspace 01" window had been clicked instead, or if the "Name for Workspace 01" field had been left blank, then the Workspace would not have been renamed.)
2. Then the user would likely want to select which Bibles, commentaries, and dictionaries should appear on the e-Sword tabs for this particular Workspace, by checking the modules that should appear, and by not checking (or by unchecking if previously checked) the modules that should be hidden.
3. Finally, the user could activate the Workspace, to make it the Workspace in effect the next time e-Sword is started. From the Navigation Tree Context Menu, he/she could select "Activate Workspace 01". The user could then verify that this Workspace will become active by clicking on the "<C> Current e-S Settings" node -- the Files List should show the same checkbox configuration as it shows when "<01> New Testament" is clicked on.
While the above set of three steps is given just as an example, it should be emphasized that many variations are possible, and the user will likely want to develop his/her own preferred "Workspace workflow". A few of the optional alternatives could include:
1. The modules for any Workspace could be selected before the Workspace is renamed.
2. A number of Workspaces could be renamed before the modules for any of them are chosen.
3. There is nothing "sacred" about starting with "Workspace 01" -- the Workspaces can be set up in any order the user chooses.
4. Rather than using the Navigation Tree Context Menu for the above steps, the Workspace Menu and its submenus could be used in an analogous fashion instead.
5. Any Workspace could be "revisited" at any time, to reselect its modules and/or to rename it.
Of course, only one Workspace can actually be activated at one time, i.e., there can be only one "Current e-S Settings" Workspace in effect at one time.
Resourcer's Workspace changes are immediately recorded in the Windows Registry, but the Registry is not "read" by e-Sword for these changes until it starts up. So, if e-Sword is running at the time that Resourcer is being used to enact Workspace changes, e-Sword would have to be closed and then started again to see the changes. To help coordinate the starting and stopping of e-Sword with Workspace changes being made while Resourcer is running, there are three e-Sword Buttons on the Resourcer Toolbar (or the three analogous items in Resourcer's File Menu) that can be used to start e-Sword, or to stop e-Sword, or to stop and immediately restart e-Sword.
Finally, it should be noted that there is an "Activate ALL Modules" (or "Activate ALL e-Sword Modules") command in many of the Resourcer menus (in order to make the command as easy as possible to find by any "panicky" e-Sword user) that could be used to reset any current Workspace back to the "<A> ALL e-Sword Modules" Workspace (which, of course, represents the default e-Sword configuration). (Of course, e-Sword would have to be restarted in order to see that it is indeed "back to normal" once again.)
However, it is also possible to restore e-Sword to its default configuration right from inside e-Sword. If the user clicks on e-Sword's Options menu, and then on "Resource...", he/she will be presented with a "Resource Options" window, in which all of the empty checkboxes can be checked again to restore the default e-Sword configuration.
Why the above e-Sword "Resource Options" procedure works just like Resourcer's own "Activate ALL Modules" command is because Resourcer really doesn't do anything to affect the display of e-Sword modules that e-Sword itself couldn't also do. Well, Resourcer also maintains Registry entries for the user's customized Workspaces, but the important point to be made here is that Resourcer doesn't do anything "tricky" or "risky" with a user's e-Sword modules -- module files are neither renamed, nor deleted, nor moved around by Resourcer -- it merely makes changes in the Registry just like the ones e-Sword could make.
So, from the above, it can be seen that Resourcer's use of "Workspaces" could be a useful tool for the e-Sword user, in addition to the other Resourcer module information display features.

Resourcer "Installation"
To use e-Sword Resourcer, no "installation", per se, is required. The program consists of one executable file, "Resourcer.exe", which (after unzipping) can be run from almost anywhere, although it is not recommended that it be run from one of the more "protected" or "system" locations (such as from within the "Program Files" or "Program Files (x86)" folders).
If it is desired to open the "regular" Offline Help File from within "Resourcer.exe", then "Resourcer.chm" must be located in the same folder as "Resourcer.exe". (The Help File can also be invoked by double-clicking on "Resourcer.chm" in Explorer, and, for that purpose, it could otherwise be located anywhere.)
[Often when the regular Help File, "Resourcer.chm", is used, another smaller file, "Resourcer.chw", might be created by Windows in the same folder as "Resourcer.chm". There is no need to save (or to delete) "Resourcer.chw" -- it could be deleted (either by mistake or on purpose) and it would be automatically recreated by Windows as needed.]
In order to open the Offline HTML Help File from within "Resourcer.exe", then "Resourcer.htm", like "Resourcer.chm" above, must be located in the same folder as "Resourcer.exe". (The Offline HTML Help File can also be invoked by double-clicking on "Resourcer.htm" in Explorer, and, for that purpose, it could otherwise be located anywhere.)
Resourcer should be able to run on any PC using Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8.n.
If, at any time, it does seem as if one or more Resourcer functions are not working, it could be possible that Administrative Privileges might be required for that particular location on that particular PC -- you could, under such a possible circumstance, right-click on Resourcer (either on a Resourcer icon or on the filename "Resourcer.exe" in Explorer) and then select "Run as Administrator", to see if running Resourcer with Administrative Privileges might improve the situation.
