The Expositor's Greek New Testament Commentary 1.1
8 Votes
Language / Interpretation Exegesis New Testament
Author:
W. Robertson Nicoll
e-Sword Version:
9.x - 10.x
Note: This module does not contain the Greek text as indicated in the description below. It just contains the commentary.
A standard reference work written in English on the Greek Text! Nicoll's contains the complete text of the Greek New Testamentalong with grammatical, critical, and exegetical notes, conveniently arranged with the Greek text in clear type at the top of each page and the notes below. The scholar, pastor, and serious Bible student can examine the Greek rather than rely on English translations.
This is a very profound English commentary with Greek text and English notes below. The author says: "In the critical notes below theGreek text I have aimed at making easily accessible to the reader the results of the labours of scholars who have made the text an object of special study..."
Dr. Wuest references passages from this commentary in his series: "Word Studies in the Greek New Testament"
The preface to The Expositor's Greek Testament (5 Volume Set) by W. Robertson Nicoll reads as follows: "In this commentary... I give to the public the fruit of studies carried on for many years. The gospels have taken a more powerful and abiding hold of me than any other part of the Scriptures. I have learnt much from them concerning Christ in the course of the years; not a little since I began to prepare this work for the press. I have done my best to communicate what I have learned to others. I have also laid under contribution previous commentators ancient, and modern...I have not hesitated to introduce quotations in Latin and Greek, which seemed fitted to throw light on the meaning. These, while possessing interest for scholars, may be passed over by English readers without much loss, as their meaning is usually indicated."

I am having difficulty finding the associated Greek that is indicated in the description. Am I blinded by my unfamiliarity with this particular work? Or was the Greek not carried over in the transcription process?
Ebed Doulos
It looks like this may be just the commentary. I will update the description tomorrow. Sorry for the confusion.

I'm not sure what Ebed Duulous is talking about.
I see lots of Greek words in the commentary. I don't see the full Bible text in Greek, although I don't know why anyone would include a Greek Bible in a commentary module. The commentary explains thousands of Greek words and references them in Greek.
I cannot open the cmtx files in Windows. What do I do? Thanks
Okay - the only complaint I have is that the title is toooooo long and takes up too much room on the tab bar. For the sake of us who have a couple dozen or more commentaries, would it be possible to abbreviate the title to "Expositors" or something like that?
Hello, I updated the abbreviation to be ExpGNT
Hello, thanks very much for making this valuable commentary available. I am not sure if you are aware, that the 16th chapter of 1 Corinthians is blank. I know there are comments on every chapter of the entire New Testament, as I have the hard copy. Thanks again, best wishes, Andy
