Glover details all that is historically known about Jesus. The book thoroughly examines everything from Jesus' teachings in the Bible to extra-Biblical records to reflecting on the manners and customs of the day. The author's goal is to paint a clearer picture of who Jesus was, the times in which he lived, and what it may have been like to see Him in that day. The reader will be hard-pressed to not come away with a sense of having been introduced to a whole series of fresh and fruitful thoughts. He has expands for us, a sentence from an earlier book:

"Jesus of Nazareth does stand in the centre of human history, that He has brought God and man into a new relation, that He is the present concern of every one of us and that there is more in Him than we have yet accounted for."

Modern Reviews
"I truly feel that after reading this work,I have a much more intimate relationship with Jesus personally, and a far more enlightened idea of the man himself"
-------
"The author takes some positions that are worth serious consideration. He examines all that is historically known about Jesus and reflects on the church of his time. Church leaders of today might take similar positions and then might ask themselves why nothing has changed."
