Author:
William Evans

e-Sword Version:
9.x - 10.x

William Evans was born January 1, 1870 in Liverpool, England, to George Evans. He died in 1950, in California. On June 20, 1889, when he was 19, he immigrated to the United States, from Liverpool.

William Evans was a New York journalist with a very comfortable salary. He heard D.L. Moody preach in New York City on Luke 5. Moody challenged young people to give themselves to Christian service, and suddenly looked down at William Evans and pointedly said, “Young man, I mean you.” Afterwards Moody found Evans and told him that somehow God had told him that He was calling Evans to service. Evans mentioned his good salary, and Moody told him to pack up his trunk and go to Chicago, not worrying about the money.

William Evans became the first graduate of Moody Bible Institute in 1892, two years after it was dedicated.

Dr. Evans was an unusually accomplished man. He pastored several churches and wrote over 50 books. He memorized the entire King James Version of the Bible as well as the New Testament of the American Standard Version. Dr. Evans also authored over fifty books.

About What Every Christian Should Believe
I read this book a number of years ago. When I saw it on David Cox's site in raw OCR format, I thought this book deserved better. This book has been cleanly formatted complete with bold, italics, proper scripture references, proper spellings, appropriate white space, proper paragraphs, etc— just like Evans intended.

It's imperative that young believers move beyond the initial experience of God. Getting grounded in the fundamentals of the faith is the key to a deep, abiding relationship with Christ. What Every Christian Should Believe is a classic primer on the basics of the Christian faith. William Evans deftly addresses only the necessities of the faith, preventing readers from being distracted by peripheral issues.

The concise chapters enables readers of all levels of spiritual maturity to engage the material in a clear, concise way and apply it to their walk with the Lord. This book is a more concise version (a primer of sorts) for Evans' Great Doctrines of the Bible.

Thanks a lot Josh.
Even though Evan is an "old" writer is exposition is clear and concise, I'm translating into spanish is Bible Doctrines because of the quality on teachings, although I'm using TheWord software I think the Most important about Bible software isn't the software itself but the Word of God, so I think this book would be of incredible profit to me.

God bless,
Manuel.
