e-Sword Utility:
Download E-Sword Resourcer

NOTE: If you have an issue with this software, you may post on our message boards for help, but there is no official support from the author.

V.2 of E-Sword Resourcer is for use with e-Sword V.8 or earlier (using Access DB modules).
V.3 of E-Sword Resourcer is for use with e-Sword V.9 or later (using SQLite DB modules).

E-Sword Resourcer is a freeware "resource manager" for e-Sword modules. Resourcer can display information about various e-Sword modules, both as individual modules and as directories of modules, and can export such information to text files or to a printer.

In addition, V.2 and V.3 of e-Sword Resourcer allow the use of e-Sword "workspaces", i.e., limited subsets of e-Sword modules that allow studying certain user-defined groups of modules without having to search through the e-Sword tabs for all of a user's e-Sword modules in order to find just certain ones of interest.

For the purposes of Resourcer V.2 and V.3, a "workspace" is defined as a collection of Bibles, commentaries, and dictionaries (e.g., "all Greek Bibles", "Strong's enabled modules", etc.) that belong together for studying the Bible for any particular purpose.

Resourcer V.2 and V.3 offer nine user-customizable workspaces, allowing invoking e-Sword with only a chosen subset of Bibles, commentaries, and dictionaries (e.g., "Hebrew Bibles", "literal translations", etc.) showing on the e-Sword interface's tabs.

You would start by clicking on a workspace, e.g., "Workspace 1", and selecting (by checking the empty checkboxes next to each module name in the modules list) which modules you might want to appear together (leaving unchecked the ones that you want hidden).

You would then want to ~save~ the workspace by using the "Save Workspace" command, so that you could recall (and modify as needed) that workspace at a later time.

You then would probably want to give the workspace a descriptive name by using the "Save Workspace" command, changing the name of the workspace from a generic default name such as "Workspace 1" to something like "Hebrew Bibles" or "Strong's Modules", etc., as appropriate.

Finally, you would want to make e-Sword recognize your chosen subset of modules as the only ones to display the next time it is started by using the "Activate Workspace" command.

Obviously (I think), you should not be running e-Sword and Resourcer at the same time.  So, first, quit e-Sword if it's running, then run Resourcer, make your desired workspace changes in it, then quit Resourcer, and then finally re-run e-Sword to see how the workspace appears in the World's Greatest Bible Software Program.

The E-sword Resourcer is a real blessing! If you want to know the names of all your resources, you can list them by categories, titles, last modified, any old way. Then export the file for viewing or printing. This is a marvelous resource when you have over 900 modules like I do. Download and use it- it's great. Thanks to the developer!!!

by the way: My Windows 7 aggressively Blocks and deletes this exe file as though it is a "virus" or something. Any ideas why and how to avoid this?

I'm glad it helps out, Gary.  :-)

Hi, Joe.

I dunno what the problem is exactly.  I suspect that it might be your antivirus program, rather than Win 7 per se.  Have you checked your AV program to see if there are provisions to exclude certain "known" programs from over-aggressive "suspicion"?  [I am not demeaning or making light of such aggression, though -- you ~expect~ your AV protection to err on the side of caution -- however, many AV programs do allow the user to "protect" (by excluding from scans) known good programs (even if the AV program doesn't otherwise know they are "OK").]  I know that, with my own AV program (Norton 360, installed on each of my Win 7 boxes), exclusions are pretty easy to create.

All you have is my word on it, of course, but I (the developer) can absolutely ~guarantee~ that Resourcer does nothing nefarious.  Now, how do I convince your PC of that?  :-)

[Fred]
