We had updated and upgraded this resource at https://Marvel.Bible

update (1 Feb 2017): modules based on ETCBC (version 4c) are now available at http://www.biblesupp...ipad-iphone-pc/

update (28Jan2017): Files "ETCBC.bbli.zip and ETCBC.lexi.zip" were removed for the moment ... needs adjustment to avoid confusion with Strong's no.

update (27Jan2017): Two testing files based on version 4c of ETCBC data uploaded. They are ETCBC.bbli.zip and ETCBC.lexi.zip. You may find more at https://github.com/eliranwong

Dear users, I would like to gather interests on update of this collection for e-Sword. If you are interested, please reply at
http://www.biblesupp...ics/#entry29781
Thanks. Eliran

An update:for those who are intersted, ETCBC database version 4c (stable release) had recently been released. I may update the whole collection and include some more helpful lingustic features available in the original ETCBC database. I may at least include:suffix parsing, and phrase analysis.

Accordance had recently an expensive set on ETCBC at https://www.accordan.../?pid=MT-ETCBC.
I think they charged money mostly for their effort in formatting. The whole set of ETCBC data is generously provided by ETCBC community and German Bible society, and are free for non-commerical use.

I may create FREE modules for use in MyBible (Android), eSword (PC & Mac, iOS), MySword (Android), what do you think?

You are welcomed to suggest features to be included in this coming update. You may refer full features at: https://etcbc.github...0_overview.html

You may also send me message if you are interested to test beta version of the forthcoming updates. I can send to you for testing, but don't expect I update the file in short period of time. I would only do it in spare time.

updated on 16OCT2016: 16 Apple files adapted for PC e-Sword version 11+
Thank you user Katoog for pointing out the problem.

had just uploaded a file, "HTMLsampleGenesisONE.html", please read review section below for html file creation (a user asked for it for bibleworks' modules).

update: updated to version 1.4, please see change log for details
Please kindly help testing PC files, for I do not have a PC.

Introduction to BHSE collection

Based on SHEBANQ. These modules are basically built on the data, freely provided by SHEBANQ project (https://shebanq.ancient-data.org/). SHEBANQ "is a system for the study of the Hebrew Bible, produced by the ETCBC in cooperation with the German Bible Society and theNetherlands Bible Society."
MORE THAN SHEBANQ. On top of that, I add BHS concordance, Strong's number, BDB entries, TWOT numbers, and various dictionaries mapping, etc (please find more description below).
LESS THAN SHEBANQ. These modules are also less than SHEBANQ. The whole SHEBANQ project is so comprehensive and contains lots of linguistic data. Only part of data was selected from the SHEBANQ/ETCBC database for building these e-Sword modules. All parsing information is up to word level only. If you are looking for full linguistic information of SHEBANQ project, I recommend you to go online for that.
Why BHSE? This collection is named Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia (Enhanced), to acknowledge the text is based on the printed text of Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia, as the source: https://shebanq.anci...ata.org/sources clearly states:

The Hebrew text shown in SHEBANQ is taken from: Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia, edited by Karl Elliger and Wilhelm Rudolph, Fifth Revised Edition, edited by Adrian Schenker, © 1977 and 1997 Deutsche Bibelgesellschaft, Stuttgart. SHEBANQ is based on this printed text.

These e-Sword modules are based on this text and parsing information, freely and generously provided through SHEBANQ project (in cooperation with German Bible Society and the Netherlands Bible Society). "Enhanced" denotes enhancements made on top of the original SHEBANQ/ETCBC data.

FREE & NON-COMMERCIAL. Any use or distribution of these modules MUST BE FREE and NON-COMMERCIAL. Please read license information at the end of this page.

FONT SETTING:

Ezra SIL (highly recommended for proper reading of Hebrew text in this collection), freely available online. You may first check if your computer have already had it, and set this font for Hebrew text in e-Sword settings.

For your convenience, I uploaded one here in this download page.

Two Versifications, BHS & KJV

Two versifications are available for BHSE collection, BHS & KJV.

Why BHS versification? Most academic articles and standard lexicons refer verses in BHS verification, that's why you need a bible module in BHS verification. A strength of these modules here is that original BHS versification is fully reserved in bible modules, BHS.bbli (Apple), BHSE.bbli (Apple), BHSE+.bbli (Apple), BHSE++.bbli (Apple), BHSE+++.bbli (Apple), BHS.bblx (PC), BHSE+ (PC), and in commentary modules, BHSE.cmti (Apple) & BHSE.cmtx (PC).

Why KJV versification? If you read bibles in COMPARE or PARALLEL view available in e-Sword, to compare verses with different translation, you must get a module in KJV verification for direct comparison. Files in KJV versification: bible modules, BHSk.bbli (Apple), BHSEk.bbli (Apple), BHSEk+.bbli (Apple), BHSEk++.bbli (Apple), BHSEk+++.bbli (Apple), BHSk.bblx (PC), BHSEk+.bblx (PC), and commentary modules, BHSEk.cmti (Apple) & BHSEk.cmtx (PC).

Dictionary module, BHSC.dcti (Apple) or BHSC.dctx (PC), covers both BHS & KJV versifications for concordance of BHS text.

BHS Parsing dictionary, BHSE.dcti (Apple) and all other supporting dictionaries, like HL-BDB & Gesenius lexicons, are independent of this versification setting.

Remarks: In bible and commentary modules with "KJV" versification, there is no content for Nehemiah 7:68, corresponding to Nehemiah 7:68 in the text of KJV. The text of Nehemiah 7:68 in the original text of BHS correspond to Nehemiah 7:69 (NOT 7:68) in the text of KJV. That is, Nehemiah 7:68-72 (BHS versification) = Nehemiah 7:69-73 (KJV versification)
Bible Modules in 5 Different Layouts

There are 5 different layouts of bible modules, each in two sets of versification, BHS & KJV.

Important Notes:
- Files with extension, *.bbli, are created for e-Sword "X", "HD" & "LT" in Apple device(s).
- Files with extension, *.bblx, are created for e-Sword in PC device(s).

I. BHS (BHS verification) & BHSk (KJV verification), APPLE & PC

Files: BHS.bbli (Apple), BHSk.bbli (Apple), BHS.bblx (PC), BHSk.bblx (PC)
This is purely the text of BHS freely available in original SHEBANQ database (https://shebanq.ancient-data.org/).

In Apple devices, you can check parsing information of individual Hebrew word, by simple "right-clicking" and selecting "Define" in e-Sword "X", or by "Long-Tapping" and selecting "Lookup" in e-Sword "HD" & "LT" (select "BHSE" in dictionary section in case multiple options are available). You may also manually highlight the Hebrew word before selecting "Define" in e-Sword "X".

Note: Some Hebrew words are made up of more than one part. Different parts of a Hebrew word have separate entries for parsing information. Like the first word of the whole bible, בְּרֵאשִׁ֖ית , are made up of בְּ and רֵאשִׁ֖ית , which have two different entries in the parsing dictionary. When you right-click this word in e-Sword "X", you can see two separate highlights for two different parts in this single word. You then have to manually highlight each part for lookup of parsing information. No worry if you are not sure what to highlight, the commentary modules and all other bible modules, separate different parts of those words clearly.

II. BHSE (BHS verification) & BHSEk (KJV verification), APPLE ONLY

Files: BHSE.bbli (Apple), BHSEk.bbli (Apple)

This is the text of BHS with inline popup notes, which contain parsing information of each or part of each word, English glossary & Strong numbers.

In Apple device, you may make use of "Define" function in e-Sword "X" or "Lookup" function in e-Sword "HD" & "LT" for parsing lookup (select "BHSE" in dictionary section in case multiple options are available). Please read more details in dictionary section below.
Notes:
- The popup notes do not work in "Compare" or "Parallel" view. It is something to do with the design of e-Sword program itself.
- It seems to me that PC e-Sword does not have this internal popup function (please correct me if I am wrong on this). Therefore, this layout is available for Apple devices only.

III. BHSE+ (BHS verification) & BHSEk+ (KJV verification); BHS with Strong's numbers, APPLE & PC

Files: BHSE+.bbli (Apple), BHSEk+.bbli (Apple), BHSE+.bblx (PC), BHSEk+.bblx (PC)

Each Hebrew word is presented in 2-layer interlinear with the following data, from top to bottom in Apple device, or from right to left in PC:
1. Hebrew manuscript
2. Strong's numbers

In Apple device, you may make use of "Define" function in e-Sword "X" or "Lookup" function in e-Sword "HD" & "LT" for parsing lookup (select "BHSE" in dictionary section in case multiple options are available). Please read more details in dictionary section below.
Note:
- The interlinear layout in Apple device is in traditional interlinear layout, in which the Hebrew word is right on top of other information.
- Up to now, I had not found full support of this traditional interlinear layout in PC e-Sword. Therefore, the interlinear in PC files is presented in inline style.

IV. BHSE++ (BHS verification) & BHSEk++ (KJV verification); 3-Layer Interlinear, APPLE & PC

Files: BHSE++.bbli (Apple), BHSEk++.bbli (Apple), BHSE++.bblx (PC), BHSEk++.bblx (PC)
Each Hebrew word is presented in 3-layer interlinear with the following data, from top to bottom in Apple device, or from right to left in PC:
1. Hebrew manuscript
2. English glossary

V. BHSE+++ (BHS verification) & BHSEk+++ (KJV verification); 8-Layer Interlinear, APPLE ONLY

Files: BHSE+++.bbli (Apple), BHSEk+++.bbli (Apple), BHSE+++.bblx (PC), BHSEk+++.bblx (PC)

Each Hebrew word is presented in 9-layer interlinear with the following data, from top to bottom in Apple device:

1. Hebrew manuscript (you may make use of "Define" function in e-Sword "X" or "Lookup" function in e-Sword "HD" & "LT" for parsing lookup; select "BHSE" in dictionary section in case multiple options are available).
2. transliteration
3. English glossary
4. Hebrew lexeme (you may make use of "Define" function in e-Sword "X" or "Lookup" function in e-Sword "HD" & "LT" for parsing lookup; select "BHSC" (NOT "BHSE") in dictionary section in case multiple options are available)
5. Strong's numbers (with tooltip's links)
6. BDB entries (for lookup entries in dictionary module, HL-BDB, with "Right-click" and "Define" in e-Sword X or "Long-tap" & "Lookup" in e-Sword "HD" & "LT", HL-BDB cover entries more than the official BDB dictionary.)
7. TWOT no. (for lookup entries in TWOT dictionary, or check out your printed copy.)
8. Gesenius entries (for lookup entries in dictionary module, Gesenius, with "Right-click" and "Define" in e-Sword X or "Long-tap" & "Lookup" in e-Sword "HD" & "LT". The mapping of Gesenius entries is only an "experimental" stage at the moment, I had not throughly checked all the mapped entries for Gesenius lexicon. You may need to verify with BDB or Strong's no. entries listed above.)

In Apple device, you may make use of "Define" function in e-Sword "X" or "Lookup" function in e-Sword "HD" & "LT" for parsing lookup. Please read more details in dictionary section below.

Note:
- Up to now, I had not found full support of this traditional interlinear layout in PC e-Sword. And information for each Hebrew word is too much for inline interlinear, so I skip this layout for PC files.
- PC users do need the commentary module described below for other BHS concordance and other dictionary entries.

Ketib & Qere Readings, APPLE & PC

All Ketib & Qere readings are reserved. Qere readings are put in the main text, in alignment with the SHEBANQ project. Ketib readings are put inside a pair of brackets [ ], on the right side of their corresponding Qere readings. (e.g. Gen 8:17)

BHSE in Commentary, APPLE & PC

Files: BHSE.cmti (Apple), BHSEk.cmti (Apple), BHSE.cmtx (PC), BHSEk.cmtx (PC)

This is the MOST important module of the whole collection in terms of information. It contains all important information for each Hebrew word listed below:

On the first line (from left to right): Hebrew manuscript, Hebrew lexemes placed inside a pair of (), & SHE number (PC)
- Hebrew manuscript; in Apple device, you may make use of "Define" function in e-Sword "X" or "Lookup" function in e-Sword "HD" & "LT" for parsing lookup (select "BHSE" in dictionary section in case multiple options are available).
- Hebrew lexeme; in Apple device, you may make use of "Define" function in e-Sword "X" or "Lookup" function in e-Sword "HD" & "LT" for concordance lookup (select "BHSC" in dictionary section in case multiple options are available).
- SHE number; in PC device, you may click this number for concordance lookup (select "BHSC" in dictionary section in case multiple options are available). This number is available in PC modules ONLY, because e-Sword in Apple platform support direct lookup through the Hebrew lexemes

In the middle section, it shows the parsing information given in the original SHEBANQ database.

On the second to last line (from left to right): Strong's numbers, HL-BDB entry, TWOT numbers, e.g. [H7225] [t.ad.ag] [2097e]
- Strong's numbers; for lookup of definition in Strong-number-supported dictionaries.
- HL-BDB entry; for lookup of definition in dictionary module, HL-BDB
- TWOT; for lookup of definition in dictionary module, TWOT (in case you mange to get one) or your printed copy.

On the last line (from left to right): Hebrew lexeme (consonant only), Gesenius entry, BDBE entry, HALOT entry, e.g. [ראשית] [GES7190] [BDB7918] [HAL7836]
- Hebrew lexeme (consonant only); for lookup of definition in SEC module, which had NOT YET been converted to e-Sword (original link: http://www.biblesupp...e-hebrew-greek/); let me know if you are interested to get this SEC work in e-Sword.
- Gesenius entry - for lookup of definition in Gesenius module.
- BDBE & HALOT entries; for personal use ONLY

Please read dictionary section below for instructions on dictionary lookup.

Parsing Dictionary, APPLE ONLY

File: BHSE.dcti (Apple)

You may have already been satisfied with the parsing information available in the commentary form for each Hebrew word. This parsing dictionary give you a bonus, giving alternative parsing information for some Hebrew words. Some Hebrew words or forms have different possible parsing data for the same form, this dictionary list all possibilities, if any, for those words.

In Apple device, you may make use of "Define" function in e-Sword "X" or "Lookup" function in e-Sword "HD" & "LT" for parsing lookup. This "Define" or "Lookup" function work with both the bible modules and commentary modules in Apple device(s). Even BHSE commentary may only give a single parsing information for a particular word in a particular verse, you may utilize this "Define" or "Lookup" function to check if other possibility for parsing.

In bible module, BHS & BHSk, you may find some Hebrew words are made up of more than one part.

Note: Clicking a Hebrew words in PC e-Sword do not activate their corresponding entries in dictionary. It is something to do with the design of PC e-Sword program itself. Therefore, I skip this parsing dictionary for PC collection.

BHS Concordance, BHSC, APPLE & PC

Files: BHSC.dcti (Apple), BHSC.dctx (PC)

Why another Hebrew concordance? First, I do not see any Hebrew concordance created for e-Sword is based on the text of BHS (correct me if I am wrong). Second, and more important, most "other" available e-Sword Hebrew concordance modules, which I found, only give you occurrence of verses according to Strong's no. entries. If you are serious about Hebrew studies, you may agree that could introduce significant errors. Some Hebrew lexemes may have more than one Strong's numbers, and some Strong's numbers have more than a single lexeme for each Strong number entry. In addition, Strong's number system do not cover all parts of Hebrew words in the Hebrew bible.

In this BHS concordance, BHSC, all entries are based on lexical forms or lexemes of all words in the text in the BHS. The first part of each entries show you all Hebrew forms of the same lexical forms appeared in the whole text of BHS. The rest show you occurrence of verses ACCORDING to different translations / meanings of the same lexeme, arranged into different sections.

Lookup BHS concordance for a Hebrew word:
- In Apple device(s), you may utilize the "right-click & Define" function in e-Sword X or "long-tap & Lookup" in e-Sword HD / LT, acting on Hebrew lexemes in bible module, BHSE(k)+++, or in commentary module, BHSE(k), and open BHSC (NOT BHSE) in dictionary section.
- In PC device(s), click the "SHE" number, e.g. SHE6566, right next to Hebrew lexeme in the commentary module, BHSE(k), and open BHSC in dictionary window.

English Glossary in SHEBANQ Database, APPLE & PC

All English glossaries provided in this collected are based on original data available in SHEBANQ database. They are glossaries, not translations. Therefore, they are very consistent across the whole text of BHS. So, searching even English glossaries in this BHSE collection may give you a reliable overview of how the words distribute.

Other Dictionary / Lexicon lookup, APPLE & PC

Files: HL-BDB.dcti (Apple), HL-BDB.dctx (PC), Gesenius.dcti (Apple), Gesenius.dctx (PC)
BDB, TWOT & Gesenius entries are available in bible modules, BHSE+++ & BHSEk+++, and in commentary module, BHSE & BHSEk. These entries cover words, which Strong's number system does not cover.

To lookup an entry from bible modules, BHSE+++ or BHSEk+++, or from the commentary module,

- right-click and select "Define" in e-SWord X
- long-tap and select "Lookup" in e-SWord HD & LT
- click an entry in PC and go to dictionary window

You have to install dictionary modules, HL-BDB, TWOT & Gesenius, for corresponding lookup. HL-BDB and Gesenius lexicons are provided in this collection. TWOT is a copyrighted material, so not available here. You may check the TWOT no. with your printed copies. Please do not ask me for any copyrighted materials.

Remarks:
- HL-BDB module provided in e-Sword collection can be search by either BDB entries or Hebrew lexeme. Searching by Hebrew lexeme work in Apple device(s) ONLY.
- mapping to Gesenius entries is still in experimental stage. I had not checked through all entries. Please kindly report any mistakes you may find.
- source of dictionary module, HL-BDB: https://github.com/o...s/HebrewLexicon
- the material of Gesenius lexicon here is kindly provided by a biblesupport.com member. I only removed some obvious errors in the database I received. I found that this Gesenius database may miss some original images.

2) BHS Concordance & ADDITIONAL DICTIONARY LINKS / MAPPINGS

Posted Image

In this BHSE collection, the text of BHS, are mapped or linked with various dictionaries, including SEC, Gesenius, BDBE, HALOT, Strong Numbers, BDB entries, TWOT numbers. All these links are not given in original SHEBANQ database. Eliran Wong had added all these information on top of the SHEBANQ database, to enhance and facilitate biblical studies.
The set of Strong's numbers in this BHSE collection is unique, even some other modules of Hebrew bible with Strong's numbers are available over the internet. The Strong's numbers provided in this collection are unique that all had been specially assigned to match the data in SHEBANQ database.
The set of BDB & TWOT entries in this BHSE collection is also unique, even you may find general links of Hebrew Strong's numbers to BDB & TWOT entries at https://github.com/o.../HebrewLexicon. The chosen set of BDB & TWOT entries in this BHSE collection had been specially assigned to match the data in SHEBANQ database.
The BHS concordance in this BHSE collection is also built by Eliran Wong, with the data available in SHEBANQ database.
All these additional enhancements are resulted from many hours of personal study and hard work. I provide here for FREE, but do not want anyone to abuse this material for commercial purpose.

Hi,

Could it be available for e-Sword for PC? (bblx)

possible ... I am discussing with other members about this at this forum ... one potential difficulty is that e-Sword modules for PC use different coding from that for Mac.  It seems the PC modules' codings has more restriction and do not support traditional interlinear directly.  A member here is checking with Rick Meyers about this ... I am still looking for a satisfactory solution.

at the same time, I am asking another member if he can share his Windows file of BHSE collection.  as I know, he have been building Windows files from my MySword files at http://www.biblesupp...-etcbc-4b-hebr/  ... I am still waiting for his reply.

Hi,

Could it be available for e-Sword for PC? (bblx)

A comprised solution for PC e-Sword just come up my mind, will do the e-Sword modules for PC after I settled the Mac files.

after second thought, I "may" or "may not" do PC files for this collection, depends on how much demand of this. I am gathering interests at http://www.biblesupp...-pc/#entry27874 ... will see.

Ok. Thank you very much for your reply!

I'll wait to see the outcome.

Version 1.0 of BHSE for both PC & Apple e-Sword updated & uploaded.  Hope you enjoy.

Blessings,

Eliran

Wow! Thank you very much!

I try it now.

God bless you,

Richard

Dear PC users,

Please note the change in version 1.1, three PC files changed.

Wow, Eliran Wong! God bless you! The Holy Spirit is really working with you. Just this evening, a few hours ago, I was doing some study on how to study the Word, and discovered a fee based module for e-Sword that comes with morphological codes and reference to Strong's numbers. But I also discovered a couple of free modules that come in transliterated form, so it seemed good to me to have a look for the free modules here on Bible Support. And on the bottom of one of the module pages was a link to this BHS module you put together. How sweet our Lord is and His Holy Spirit because I did not know this module was released. I could go on, but I'll end by saying thank you, Eliran Wong! I really appreciate your labor of love. The Lord Jesus is clearly at work in your life, and His Holy Spirit guided me here tonight as proof of it. God bless you! I pray many more are blessed by your work, too! In the Name of Jesus! Amen!

In His Love,

John
