Greek, RTF Coding, UTF Coding

This is a table of the Greek Alphabet in both Lowercase and Uppercase which both have RTF and UTF coding.

Example of RTF and UTF coding of Greek Characters:
  • Where the Greek letter, Alpha is used, the RTF code is \u0945? for the lowercase, and \u0913? for the Uppercase.
  • The UTF code for the same letters are U+03B1 for the Lowercase, and U+0391 for the Uppercase.
This is by no means a comprehensive and exhaustive document, but something that will help anyone starting out in using Greek text in their resources.

When using the rtf code for Greek, please make certain that you include in the code for the language
  • \f0 = English (Default) This you need not enter in.
  • \f1 = Greek Language
  • \f2 = Hebrew Language
When entering in the rtf code for a Hebrew letter (and this also includes a word) your code should look like this: {\f1\fs24\u0945?} (if using lowercase) and etc

With regards to font sizes, when entering it in as rtf code, the size you enter is in half points. Therefore, when you see \fs24, that equals to 12 points of the actual size of the font. Font at 40 half points equals 20 points and etc.

With regards to braces used, as seen in the above example, they keep the parameters of what has been placed in them. This means that the body of the text that is outside the braces are not affected.
