God's Watching
Not Them!

The Lord has given to every man his work! It is his business to do it, and the devil's business is to hinder him, if he can. Surely as God has given you a work to do, Satan will try to hinder you. He may present things more promising, He may allure you by worldly prospects, He may assault you with slander, torment you with false accusations, set you to work defending your character, employ pious persons to lie about you, editors to assail you and excellent men to slander you. You may have Pilate and Herod, Annas and Caiaphas all combined against you , and Judas standing ready to sell you for thirty pieces of silver; and you may wonder why all those things come upon you. Can you not see that the whole thing is brought about through the craft of the devil to draw you off from your work and hinder your obedience to God?

Keep about your work. Do not flinch because the lion roars; do not stop to stone the devil's dogs; do not fool away your time chasing the devil's rabbits. Do your work. Let liars lie, let sectarians quarrel, let corporations resolve, let editors publish, let the devil do his worst; but see to it that nothing hinders you from fulfilling the work that God has given you.

He has not sent you to make money. He has not commanded you to get rich. He has never bidden you to defend your character. He has not set you to work to contradict falsehood which Satan and his servants may start to peddle. If you do these things, you will do nothing else; you will be at work for yourself and not for the Lord.

Keep about your work. Let your AIM be as steady as a star. Let the world brawl and bubble. You may be assaulted, wronged, insulted, slandered, wounded and rejected; you may be abused by foes, forsaken by friends, and despised and rejected of men, but see to it with steadfast determination, with unfaltering zeal, that you pursue the great purpose of your life and object of your being, until at last you can say with and through Christ;

"I have finished the work which Thou gavest me to do"
John 17:4 ( Hebrews 12:1..Great Cloud )

I have enjoyed reading this, holds much truth and encouragement. My first thoughts were, for one to write it as this, is through experience.

Lord Bless

Was worth reading.. God bless you..

Lord Bless

The reason I saved this passage for so many years was that the Lord brought it to me to help combat my sinful attitudes - and to give me help dealing with those who were sinning against me.  I am not the author though - I just found it years ago in my reading.

I am reminded that each day I must die to self. My ego, my selfish desires are unimportant, they are to be laid at the foot of the cross. Blessings in the name of Jesus.

Thanks Larry, I needed that word from the Lord that you shared.

"Walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, bearing fruit unto every good work (this first, then) and increasing in the knowledge of God." Colossians 1:10

The Lord's Blessings to you Chang noi, thank you for your response.  The image that came to mind with your verse usage was two young children, holding hands, walking down their rural road.  One named Fruit and the other Knowledge - where one goes, so goes the other.  Walking on the path to see their Heavenly Father and to abide with Him forever.

Psalms 18:2

The LORD is my rock, my fortress, and my deliverer;
          my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge;
          my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower.

I could think that you know me. I needed it, the encouragement and rebuke alike.

I thank our heavenly Father that He could bless you with this writing.  Years ago I was struggling with a wandering critical eye about other's in the ministry -- at the same time being dissatisfied with my own walk.

God just tied a knot in my tail with this very same writing.  At times I have had to return for a further tweaking in humlity of a servants heart.  It's good to be teachable -- correction is good.

'Here we offer and present unto Thee, O Lord,
ourselves, our souls and bodies, to be a reasonable,
holy, and lively sacrifice unto Thee.'

TAKE my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee.

Take my moments and my days;
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands, and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love.

Take my feet, and let them be
Swift and 'beautiful' for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only, for my King.

Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.

Take my silver and my gold;
Not a mite would I withhold.

Take my intellect, and use
Every power as Thou shalt choose.

Take my will, and make it Thine;
It shall be no longer mine.

Take my heart, it is Thine own;
It shall be Thy royal throne.

Take my love; my Lord, I pour
At Thy feet its treasure-store.

Take myself, and I will be
Ever, only, all for Thee.

I haven't read that until now, but I have  experienced and seen it in the world,and the  advice it gives  is true wisdom.

I loved that passage Larry.

No more need be said...

"...but let your yea be yea; and your nay, nay;..." from James 5:12

Bless you

for those who don't know, the hymn above was written by Frances Havergal.

this writing is for every day for we need to stay focused on the Lord and him alone

How sad for our culture, but you speak the truth.

Ecclesiastes 12:11-14
(11)  The words of the wise are like goads, their collected sayings like firmly embedded nails--given by one Shepherd.
(12)  Be warned, my son, of anything in addition to them. Of making many books there is no end, and much study wearies the body.
(13)  Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.
(14)  For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil.

The Sad part brother is that we see it in writting and it is as plain as day yet many still choose to walk blind

Very powerful message. Praise God for the timeliness of it finding its way to me!!!

Yes, God is faithful in his care and nurturing of His children.  Never early nor ever late, but at just the right time...  "You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly." - Romans 5:6

Amen. This is a powerful prayer.

I am glad you found a blessing here.  God's Mercy & Grace rest with you. lg

You may not be the author of the article but if it were not for you i would never get the chance to read it and feel so much challenged. May God bless you.
