Issue with devotional module

By jlfleming, 12 May 2021 · 989 views

Hey

I have been trying to create a devotional module in e-Sword. I keep getting an error message that I have been unable to figure out the corrective measures for. It reads like this: "Value Error." Anyone have any idea what I am doing incorrectly and how I can make the changes necessary to get the devotional book to function?

Hello jlfleming (James Fleming), You do not provide enough details for programmers to know where to begin to assist you. Please confirm what device you use, which version of e-Sword, what name of file you exactly are creating, what the source is based on, where the folder of the source files are located on your PC. Detail the precise event you are writing, when you get the error, and precisely which version of Tooltip or editor (and from where they were downloaded) which you are using. Please verify all equipment updates on your device are updated as well, as Microsoft security keeps changing some details on an ongoing basis. Then provide the full details to Rick Meyers, at www.e-sword.net who designs the e-Sword application for both Microsoft and for Apple Mac devices. You did not define for which device you are designing the devotional to run. Please follow up, here, when you find a solution. Please be prepared to provide the copy of all relevant source files to Rick Meyers to investigate as well. Thank you.

ISSUE WITH DEVOTIONAL MODULE

Rick Meyers has provided a training module, available on https://www.e-sword.net in the "Training" section, explaining how to use the Study Notes Editor for creating your own commentary.

I am using the devotional module for a long time now and I have noticed an error message on the display of the module from the last couple of days. I am trying to figure out this https://www.bestessa...writers-online/ issue for the smooth working of the module. Can you please share your views regarding this issue?

Harry838 the volunteers at BibleSupport.com are not telepaths. We cannot see the content of your memory. We are not able to remote view your PC. Please explain which version of e-Sword you are using. Use e-Sword option "Help", "About". Which version of Microsoft is your PC using? Use the "Windows Logo key" on the keyboard + "Pause" button. Has there been a change of operating system recently? Let us know which Browser you are using. Look in the Browser option, in the top right corner, to "Settings and more", "Help", "About". Is your browser up to date?
Please mention which changes you can remember seeing occur to your PC recently. Are you running Windows 10, or Windows 11, on which type of desktop PC or laptop PC, and have you downloaded a similarly named devotional from somewhere, recently? If you browse to your C: drive and right click on Properties, is there still enough spare disk space, or have you used up the available disk capacity?
I suggest you also Update Windows, and update your browser.
Check where your e-Sword Files are running from, write this down. You see this when running e-Sword, on the e-Sword "Options", "Resource...", "Devotions" dialogue box, in the two windows near the bottom of the screen, for the "Resource Location", and for the "User Files Location". Write down these details.
Is the Devotional book which you have been using still listed there? If so, what is the exact name of the Devotional book, on that listing? Hover the pointer over the name, and write down the tab name, and the filename including filetype, which will appear in [brackets].
Now, open the e-Sword option "Tools", "Daily Devotions", is the book still listed, and is it selected? What is the name? Are you able to access the book? What specifically is the error code which you receive?

Then use File Explorer, and browse to the folder which corresponds to the "Resource Location" which you discovered, which is likely to be C:\Program Files (x86)\e-Sword and let us know if the devotional file is still there? If not, go to the "User Files Location" which you discovered, which may be C:\Users\user\Documents\e-Sword and see if the filename is there? The PC may have changed the "user" to another name, depending on how you access your PC. Have you changed your username recently? Is the filename and file type (the letters after the period in the filename) which you find listed, .devx or is the filename with file type .devi? Do you have the same filename, or similar filenames, with two different filetypes listed there, for the same devotional? Do you remember where you loaded the devotional from?

When I recently had a problem with some files, Rick Meyers advised me to reset my PC. This is done from e-Sword option "Help", "Reset e-Sword Settings". Then restart e-Sword, and first thing, check that the location of your e-Sword files are where previously set, on e-Sword in the option "Options" "Resource..." in any of the following dialogue options. If you run from another drive and path, in the window boxes, browse to change the details to the relevant path, in the windows, to the paths which you had previously found, and had written down, as recommended above. Then exit e-Sword. Restart e-Sword again to access the new folders.  Do you still have the same error message when you try to access your Devotional?

You could also check whether there is a new version of that Devotional for your PC, on e-Sword option "Download", "Devotions", provided by Rick Meyers, due to changes in the operating system or version of e-Sword which you are now running. If the Devotional was from BibleSupport.com, have you checked whether there are comments for that devotional, with comments by other members of the Bible Support website, or a later version? PLEASE PROVIDE MORE DETAILS, step by step, what and were you are looking, SO THAT WE CAN TRY TO REPRODUCE YOUR SYMPTOMS, from the type of e-Sword, and screen by screen, step by step, so we can try to imagine what may have been the cause of the error. What exactly was the error details, and from which screen option? Please copy the wording exactly, and report back.

Do not expect Bible Support to provide a manual to fix problems, for some essay if you were wanting ghost writers to write an essay for you, and then try to get the glory by proposing their research was your own. That is illegal, and could result in you being fired for false claims that all the work was your own and not done by someone on your behalf. Instead, open e-Sword again, and write down, exactly, step by step, what you do, and what you see on which screen, to be able to reproduce the error, after trying the above suggestions. An alternative, is to write down your screens, and options, and send your request to the designer of e-Sword, Rick Meyers, at Rick@e-sword.net after you check for suggestions on the https://www.e-sword.net website on the FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions) option, and have viewed the relevant training options on the same web site.

I studied programming at the university. But it was not easy for me to cope up with writing different works on this topic. There was never enough time and the assignments were terrible. That’s why I decided to turn to online nursing papers service as it was not possible to finalize my sections in the dissertation. I realized that it is better to give such a task to someone else than to blush in front of the teacher for my dissertation. It is good that there are people who help students unload their difficult schedule.

You will find the use of the Daily Devotions mentioned in the e-Sword User's Guide, pages 188 to 190, with illustrations. If you are using e-Sword on the Microsoft OS, after e-Sword version 11, then use function key "F1" to call up the e-Sword User's Guide in PDF format, while e-Sword is running.

The selected devotional book has been divided into portions, numbered into one page per day for the year. There is no option to search on Bible references inside the devotionals at present. The option to search on Bible references, and to link the references and use them like the entries in the Commentaries, has not yet been implemented by the designer, Rick Meyers, from Https://e-sword.net  Contact Rick Meyers for more details. rick@e-sword.net
